I'm looking at it from a context. Donaire is the first high level elite operator that Inoue has fought. He went toe to toe with the big bad monster at 37 and he finished the fight. Joe Smith is a construction worker who has about 1 percent of the technique and skill Inoue has. And yet he was closer to stopping Bivol than Inoue was to Donaire. And all he did was land 1 grazing overhand right. I'm grading on a curve. If people say Inoue is the hardest puncher in the sport p4p then he tanked his argument for that against Donaire.
What the hell are you talking about? Smith had one good moment against Bivol where Bivol recovered in seconds, whereas Donaire ONLY survived the 11th round because the ref stopped Inoue from going after him and gave him a 15 count. Did you even watch that fight? And Sullivan Barrera who’d been dropped like a dozen times ate Smith’s best punch and got up, Inoue KOd better p4p fighters with a single blow, without needing his skillset. Another post that’d fit well to the stupidest things casuals said thread.
Inoue wears Winning gloves. He has a huge KO ratio while wearing them. That right there says he has power. That being said, if either him or Donaire were wearing a puncher's glove instead, that fight probably ends in stoppage. Who below 126 has stopped Donaire? He takes a good shot.
How am I a casual? I'm talking about Jor Smith Jr., Artur Beterbiev, Naoya Inoue. Good luck finding a casual fan who watches their fights. Bivol didnt recover in seconds. He turned his back and was saved by the bell. Barrera didnt eat Smith best shot. He landed a grazing left hook that dropped him. Then Smith broke his jaw and couldn't fight his fight anymore. So you just gonna leave that out? He could not stop a 37 year old Bantamweight FFS. I always thought his power was overrated grading on the ridiculous curve of him being regarded as the biggest puncher.
Respect to Narvaez who was victorious in 24 world title fights. Let that sink in. He's won two title fights less than Floyd Mayweather. But the version Inoue fought was 39 years old.
Bootleg Dorticos aka Delusional D aka Bum Squad has even less skill than Smith does and I'd pick a 160lb version of Inoue to spark him out too. 190lb Smith cracked an unsuspecting 180lb Bivol flush on the temple with the best right hand he's ever thrown slightly before the bell rang. Sure Bivol was hurt by the shot but he recovered very quickly even though he'd already switched off mentally thinking that the round was over. Bivol by rights should've been out cold on his face after eating a full-blooded shot like that when in that relaxed and totally unprepared state and I have no doubt he would've been if that was Inoue in there with him instead Smith.
The concept of P4P is based too much on subjective opinion and possible personal bias and something that can never be proven one way or another. To me you can only prove to be the best in your own weight class and Inoue has proven so far to be the hardest puncher in every weight class he has fought in. I don’t think he or any other fighter can do anymore than that.
No one else at bantamweight has hurt Donaire at all, and his only stoppage loss was against a guy who is a big finisher at two weight classes above Inoue's. Inoue is a monsterous puncher at bantamweight.
Inoue has KO'd 7 former or current world champions in just 19 fights Bootleg Dorticos has only beaten 2 in 42 fights and one of them had been shot to bits for aeons Joe Smith has only KO'd 1 Granted Smith KO 50 y/o B-Hop>>>Bootleg Dorticos KO 500 y/o Old Man River Ortiz (and an illegal rabbit punch frenzy KO at that)
Inoue 's power is not overrated. Didn't you see Donaire getiing knocked down by the body shot in round 11? Inoue could hurt the guy who's bigger than him and who was at his natural weight class.
Have it ever occured to you that the reason why Inoue didn't manage to stop Donaire is because the boxer he faced this time is a top quality opposition ? An elite boxer is always tough to beat, even by other elites. And the match is not really one-sided as people earlier predicted though Inoue was obviously the better side. Look at the bruises in Donaire's face had after the match and Inoue's fractured orbital bone, those are signs of a 'great war' happening.
Answer me this, how many fighters in their 4th weight class do you think would be able to survive 10 rounds after breaking their orbital bone plus blood running down their face and knock down their opponent only to be saved from the ref and continue to win the fight? It’s ok, I’ll wait...
Another thing to factor in is Inoue's KO% in the amateurs: 75–6 (48 KOs) This content is protected This content is protected
