Nothing to do with getting "Baptised" then? I think Ben knows that the game has passed him by. Well, at least we got to see him in the Octagon and put to bed how good he was (he still should have lost the Lawler fight). He will do well on the mic. He's smart, articulate, and was well known. That goes a long, long way for a UFC fighter when they retire from the organisation.
I called it just saying. He needs at least a year off If the hip thing is true then he may never come back I suppose
They say that when you get older, you regret the things you DIDN'T do more than the things you DID do. But I feel like Ben might be an exception. I think he probably regrets coming to the UFC and getting baptized by Masvidal more than he would have regretted fighting his career out in ONE FC. I think this retirement will stick. It's always been clear than Ben's true passion is wrestling. He's an extremely successful coach and I'm sure he will find contentment in that venture now that he's done fighting.
I don't think he has much regret though. He's always come across as a very stoic guy. Doesn't dwell as much on negatives as most people do.
Called it! He's finished for good. Admits he wasn't good enough and came up short in the UFC. Think the hip issue is just the deciding factor for him. A very short and interesting run in the UFC.
Good luck to him. As has been said, his biggest passion was always Wrestling... not MMA. Came into the UFC too late.
