Same here, but I don't know, I think both of us might end up buckling if 12 million was being waved under our noses. Kovalev in all likelihood was fearing the worst, but had his fingers crossed hoping for the best. Now that he's lost, in retrospect it's hitting him just how little chance he really did have.

Yet he still almost went the distance and would have ended up getting robbed. So his gamble came within 3 minutes and 45 seconds of actually working.:deal: If he was there to lose, he wouldn't have boxed as well as he did and almost saw the final bell. Kovalev is just taking advantage of the ready made excuse the vast majority of posters on here had already made for him. And it is a convenient one.

Because the reality is, what they said was right, he was a shell, but he still almost pulled it off.

All of this is true but he did sell out for that 12 million. I cant say what I would do in that situation. I know for a fact Ward would have said FU.

Did he sell out if he thought he might have an outside chance of pulling it off and almost did? And I couldn't care less what Ward would do. It was a calculated risk, that didn't pay off.

Just a stupid comment. We all knew he went in for the payday as fighting guy two weight classes Lower doesn’t benefit your career at this point in any other way.

I thought he would have given it his best shot but based on this comment he’s tarnished his legacy big time. Didn’t even sound like he came to win and picked up the check

This is a huge scandal right now in Russia. Kovalev basically insulted all of his fans who believed he would win... All the Russian meda outlets are blowing up this story, and it's going viral. expect for Kovalev to lose tons of fans.... the mans a piece of S*HT

Even if recovery was an issue I find it strange he didn't throw a single power punch with anything of substance behind it. These were not the same punches that made Jean pascal and bernard Hopkins punch drunk.

Hearns did the same with Hagler too. Legs were weak that night, so took it to him right away.

If he knew he wasn’t in any shape to win, he should have at some point just gone hell for leather and go out swinging. At least then there was chance of landing some hail Mary shots and striking lucky. What else he have to lose by trying that or was he just hoping to go the distance?

it definitely is, especially among all his Krusher fans, who genuinely were supporting him to win. Name another Russian boxer who openly came out and said after the fight "If you thought I was gonna win, you are a moron"... who says that?
