Just when you thought it couldn't get any more cringe worthy you have UFC create a belt like this It is actually quite smart though as it will appeal to the Diaz brothers meat head fans who are mainly WWE fans that jumped on the UFC bandwagon when Brock Lesnar signed. I will be cheering for Masvidal as his schtick is much less cringey than that of the Diaz brothers and their wannabe gangster fans.
I agree mate it's a farce this circus belt. The ufc have slowly over the last 3-4 yrs or so turned into everything that is wrong with boxing. Circus belts, multiple belts in a weight class, champions ducking contenders and not defending, fighters getting title shots off losses. I like the fight Masvidal-Diaz it's a good matchup but lets be completely honest here neither guy is a serious threat to win the 170 lb belt. All these different belts just confuse the casual fans of the sport like boxing when they don't know who the real champion is. Obviously the hardcore fans know but it just makes the sport look a joke.
Does nothing but dilute the brand and legitimacy of the UFC as a serious sport. Its funny as Dana has become everything that he claimed to loathe in the boxing industry.
REMINDER Nate Diaz got the crap beat out of him while trying to fight for a fake belt that was literally made for him.
MP the sad thing is that I wouldn't put it past the UFC to roll out Nick Diaz's corpse to fight Masvidal for "the belt" and get all the clueless idiot's excited for the missmatch. I seriously would doubt that Nick could beat anyone at 170 lbs in the ufc these days. Seriously would he even be able to beat average fighters like Mike Perry or Tim Means ? Personally I would pick both those guys to beat Nick Diaz these days and you have some casuals seriously calling for a GSP-Nick Diaz fight. Ridiculous.
We already had a GSP v Nick fight, and GSP made him look stupid. After the fight as usual Diaz was full of excuses etc claiming GSP had a spy in the Diaz camp. Nick shouldn't be allowed to fight again, that WWE like performance he put in against Silva was horrid to watch.
