Hello Sal, long time no speak!! A celebration of the human spirit... that is a very good way of putting it... I couldn`t have said it any better myself. A lot of people don`t know this, but Bobby dedicated thet fight to his wife who had comitted suicide several months back.

Bobby was overcome by grief and plagued by bouts of depression afterwards, but he used all those negative emotions and thoughts as fuel for his inner fire leading up to his fourth and final battle against Bazooka Limon.

He swore to himself that he would win that fight at any cost in her memory, and boy did he ever deliver the goods that night. Bobby wasn`t an all-time great, but on that night he would have given any great jr.lightweight who ever lived a run for their money, you would have had to kill him to stop him that day.

........Too true. And huge credit to the guy that always gets lost in discussions of this fight, Limon. What a gutty ******* he was too.

Indeed Sal, Limon was one tough, awkward, hard hitting son of a gun who doesn`t get enough respect these days. He was in quite a few entertaining bouts as well, especially the Navarrette, Boza and Choi bouts as well as the Chacon series.

He hung around the fight game a bit too long for his own good though, and was used as a stepping stone later in his career which is when he racked up most of his losses... much like Livingston Bramble in that regard.

    When did McCall fight Rahman?

I don't want to pick anything played out so...

Whitaker vs. McGirt I was an excellent boxing match.

I also like Marquez vs. Barrera.

I love slug fests, but those are some of my favorite technical match ups off the top of my head.

It would break your heart to see Bobby today, RB. Remember him as he was against Limon.

...........I've read he now lives with his aged mother as he can't really fend for himself anymore, John; is that still true, as far as you know?

I know some people who work at the IBHOF, and have heard the same thing from them John. A friend of mine actually met Bobby last year in Canastota, and he told him how he was his favourite fighter and that he admired him greatly... and Bobby just looked at him and smiled and gave him a hug.

But my friend told me that while looking him in the eyes he could tell their was nobody home so to speak, a blank stare was all that he saw and it broke his heart. Like you, I prefer to remember the younger Bobby, who was such an engaging and fun guy to listen to when interviewed... I have not met Bobby in person, but the thought of him in his current condition does make me very sad.

I have been told recently that he lives with a woman caretaker who looks after him with his monthly disability pension.

.............I still have to see Pintor-Meza. I never have seen it, and I heard it was quite good. I had to work when it was aired back in the day. :(
