Not very high imo, never fought anyone until he got stood on his head twice by Canelo. Top 50 middleweight for me around the level of a Edison Miranda if I'm being completley honest.
I think he beat Canelo in the first fight very clearly, and again in the second fight in a much closer fight. Bernard Hopkins would UD him in 10-2 fashion landing plenty on him. Same with Roy Jones. Jr. who may even land such bombs that he is one a few fighters to be able to KO GGG. I haven't given this too much thought or studied it in depth like some experts on here who are so knowledgeable and intellectual, I would guess GGG is slightly below ATG level. His victories over Canelo not being official really does suck.
Well he is much closer to your Sergio Martinez than he is to your Edison Miranda, love him or hate him. I would also hope, love him or hate him, that he is much closer to Sergio Martinez than he is Marvin Hagler.
So many fools here. Go and get a normal job or at least an education. GGG had bad luck with his opponents, but it is not his fault. He beat some very good to great guys: Geale, lemieux, Rubio, Jacobs, canelo twice, devrychenko. That is quite impressive and I give a sh.. about the official robbery scorecards. I know what I saw. He beat canelo twice in clear decisions. The devrycehnko fight was way closer than both canelo fights and he still beat devrycehnko close. Imo he is clearly an atg at middle. Some dumb people will start talk sh.. now, but he is around the level of: Hagler Jones jr Hopkins Monzon He would whip the floor with Martinez, pavlik, sturm, abraham and other middleweight belt holders and champs. Canelo is also an atg, but a drug abuser and a clear robber
Eh... not that high. He's slightly above Felix Sturm as far as historical achievements, although Sturm does have a belt at 168 so idk.
My mans threw in former WBF Champion Patches Rubio(who lost his next fight and retired shortly after) Geale(who got knocked out by a midget less than a year later, then retire after getting KO'd by a bum) and Devry(14 fight fringe contender, best win Jack Culcay) then have the nerve to give him wins in fights that he actually lost....
It's hard to rank him considering he was dominating easily lesser guys knocking them out left and right, but against his 3 best opponents he had a lot of struggle. I think his only clear win on the highest level was Canelo I - he clearly won that fight (116-112 on my card) I think GGG lost the rematch to Canelo by two points (113-115) and beat Jacobs by one point (114-113). I also had him losing to Derevyanchenko by one point (113-114) Yeah, I know GGG wasn't at his peak in all these fights, but past prime Hopkins (for example) found the way to completely dominate top guys like Tarver and Pavlik or at least beat them without any shadows of doubt (like he did vs Winky Wright).
Probably around the twenty mark at MW Canelo x2 Jacobs Derevyanchenko Lemieux Geale Included in a long reign at number one in the division, unbeaten thus far. Its not up there with the elites od MW history but its still very solid.
MW is incredibly deep, so not as high as people might think. Higher than Hopkins, however, at that weight.
