When your top 5 wins are

    Wlad
    Chisora
    Hammer
    Steve Cunningham
    Martin Rogan

    After 30 fights.

It’s safe to say you are CAREFULLY selecting opponents and not facing the best.

We need to call Fury out on this because unless we do he is going to think it’s acceptable.

    The record books say different...

Besides, Tyson saw the floor TWICE in that fight. Then went on to perform poorly ever since.

They do, but they overrate the Klitschko fight to something it really isn’t.

I saw it as a stylistic nightmare. Nothing more or less.

At least with AJ you can say that he's beating the top challengers/was clearing the division out. Tyson does nothing of the sort.

Furys record is pretty padded, wilders is even worse. At least Fury beat the reigning champ, doesn't matter what you thought of vlad at that time he was the one to dethrone him. And to be fair we should be adding wilder to his resume, that's 2 long time belt holders he beat.

AJ has quite clearly the best names on his record. That's just a fact.

That doesnt mean I think he would beat wilder or Fury but out of the 3 he's the o e who has risked the most and not shyed away from facing the best.

    1. Rating the Wlad win as bigger than it was.

It was a stinkfest pyshological mind **** on a shot fighter. Neither barely threw a punch the entire fight. Tyson Fury threw slightly more punches. The writing was on the wall that Wlad was shot in the Byrant Jennings fight, whom Wlad really struggled with. His personal problems at the time were a big factor too.

    2. He creates his own hype and alot of people rate as higher than he should be because of it. He is a great promoter.

    3. Finally, alot of people are casuals and do not bother to interrogate a record and see whether there is any substance there.

It goes like this. Fury getting beat by McDermott, flattened by Pajkic, dropped by Cunningham and so on isn’t the real Fury. Booed out the ring against Pianeta. Not the real Fury. Having a nightmare against Wallin. Not the real Fury.

Klitschko was the real Fury. And it wasn’t a ‘I’ll land two punches if you land one and I’ll never remotely have you in bother’ borefest. It was a ‘masterclass.’ ‘A schooling.’

    1) That victory was years ago.
    2) Tyson drew with Wilder, hit the floor twice, and was lucky to get up the second time.
    3) Wilder's reign is a joke, so it makes your point even worse that he beat a long term belt holder.

At least you can admit that the better names are on AJ's record. If Tyson had those names on his record he'd be called the GOAT.

    Exactly.

For someone so good, how do you only show up twice in your career that is now in it's/or close to being in it's second decade?

Fury doesn’t appeal to casuals though. He’s demonstrably unpopular. They tried to literally give his tickets away in Vegas. More than ten thousand people said ‘nah, you’re alright.’ Last time he was in a British ring he was booed out of it for being so boring.

The overrating of Fury is a hardcore fans thing because they can’t bear the fact that Joshua (and in turn Matchroom) are popular.

    Agreed.

When you're popular, you don't need to dress up as Batman for your fights.

Fury never did good numbers here.

When he was supposed to fight Haye, Haye always done massive numbers because he was the goods. He filled out the MEN against Harrison from top to bottom. Fury could only dream of that, and that's in his hometown!

Haye was coming off of his stint in the jungle, but did massive numbers before that.

If you're Tyson's dance partner and you don't have a name, the fight will tank (look at his stateside numbers).

Same thing with Saunders. Consistently in boring fights scraping wins against nobodies. Turn it on once or twice and the fanboys are drooling. It’s traveller mystique. They talk a good game to be fair but it’s all nonsense. Same thing happened with Hughie until he proved everyone who was saying he was useless right a good few times.

In fairness at least Tyson has a genuine name on his record. The Saunders fanboys are reduced to talking about David Lemieux like he’s some combination of Ray Robinson and Roberto Duran.
