Thought he beat the count. Was Weeks just protecting the Wilder gravy train?

Oh please. Seriously, only Tyson Fury could get up from that. You're truly underestimating the ridiculous courage, heart and endurance of Fury. Not to take anything away from Ortiz, because that shot was beyond brutal and he still got up, but what Fury did in that 12th round belongs in a legendary place on its own.

Fury is honestly, in my personal opinion, mentally one of the greatest fighters ever. That mentality is out of this world.

Ortiz was schooling Wilder that last minute and got careless thinking nothing can happen with few seconds left in that round. His cardio seemed fine, he just had to cruise and Wilder would have to open up and Ortiz could easily rock him.

I think it was a plan. And he has the speed, which puts his skill level up there. Not a bad showing for him. Even when he looks out of it he can still win.

Okay, missed that in real-time, was typing and looking mostly at my other browser window as soon as he went down. None of the replays showed the count.

Wilder just looks to land the right hand. Once he runs into a mobile HW and someone who doesn't gas, Wilder is going to lose badly.

And I do like Wilder, he is the definition of an overachiever.

Fair play to Wilder in the interview he said he wants Fury rematch next then unification. Let’s hope he follows through with that.

He really is a comedy boxer to watch though, has any other champion ever had such huge disparity between rounds won and fights won? :qmeparto:

He was wobbling and not with it. He knew he couldn't recover in time. Shame as would have made an exciting finale to the fight had he could regroup

    Satanic power on display again.

What does Al Haymon have this man doing behind closed doors? I shudder thinking about it.

Ortiz was dominant even throughout the 7th round and while finding a way through with the left on 8 or 9 occasions he just couldn’t land clean enough to get Wilder going. Once Wilder started throwing the right it was only a matter of time before Ortiz’s lazy left hand defence let him down.

he has fought Fury, who is quick. I do think Mike Tyson would have knocked out Fury in a few rounds, but Wilder has power which will make him a threat to win anytime against anyone.

I've been saying that way before you did, but give up on it. It's not easy to find someone that could do what you think should be done. You can't find someone like Fury out there and even though he succeeded and was robbed, it took for him to literally go through hell to do it. I promise you, NO ONE would get up from the shot Fury got up from in the 12th.

wilder set it up very nicely. he showed him that pesky jab a few times and feinted it, as ortiz was stepping, and dropped the money punch. sneaky.

dunno man, was your bull**** detector not flying through the roof at that point, first punch wilder throws knocks ortiz out (who was a good 5 rounds up), in house PBC fight. Funny.
