He is lucky to be born with tremendous power. Yeah he worked hard to punch harder but most of it is genetics, like nba players being tall. His technique and form is terrible, and he was getting outboxed by a 40 year old tomato can. Take away his naturally gifted power, and his record would be like 20 wins 20 losses Half of his opponents don't even have wikipedia pages. How many top 10 contenders has he beaten? Floyd Mayweather's resume is 10x more impressive Can't wait for Fury to rematch him and end this can crusher's hype train
I agree he doesn't have great or good technique, average maybe. Not sure why a man who has never been beaten is now reduced to a tomato can. But you will get to prove that as Ortiz post fight said he is continuing his career and looks to take punishment out on those, unless they keep avoiding a 40 year old can! Take away his naturally gifted power, and his record would be like 20 wins 20 losses---Can't dispute that, he might be 7-30-3 I take it in stride knowing that my whole life has bared witness to every active HW gets clowned by a group of naysayers. There has never been a HW in my lifetime that didn't have detractors. Serious ones. I remember how bad Holmes got booed for his win over Witherspoon, doubted for going 15 rounds with Norton who got KTFO'd by every hard hitter he faced. Holmes was dogged! He can't beat a blown-up LHW, much less stop him. Young men my age...all adored Tyson. He was mesmerizing, but looking back on it...all the old people to me back then kept saying things like -yeah Tyson fought 20+ tomato cans, watch what happens when he meets someone who won't get bullied. Holyfield...OMG! Dude was ridiculed. He went life and death old ass George!? George was there to be hit! & his blown up steroid muscles bound body has no power to stop even an old over the hill Holmes. rocked by Bert crack-smokin' Cooper and lost to the 1st young HW he faced in Bowe, who beat no one of significance after Holy. Not my take...rather recounting the doubters who thought so. There were many! Lennox to this day has people who will never let him live down the KO losses to nobodies, people who beat no one other than him. Wilder is just the next in line. Big difference is all the above had some skill to admire, while Wilder seems to live up the name (wild) when it comes to technique. He has technique! It just looks wild!!! The longest reigning active HW champ is the least skilled, but the most exciting. Skills rarely bring big $$. Such fights have to be marketed well. But excitement always brings fans, this was a good night for boxing IMO.
I've always somewhat criticized Wilder but I used to look forward to his fights. But now it's becoming kind of repetitive. He marches forward throwing and missing a couple wild punches every round until he finally lands. His fights are always low punch output. The Fury fight is the only fight in a long time that was entertaining and that's because I don't think Wilder wasn't that worried about getting knocked out and was allowed to take more risks when he threw. There's a lot of potential matches that could turn out to be great fights in Ruiz, Parker, Whyte, Usyk, and Aj but it's unlikely any of them will happen.
Lol Wilder doesn't have tremendous power. He has the power to knock out old men and tomato cans. Have you every heard of Tye Fields? He was knocking out bums just like Wilder does. In fact Fields knocked out some of the same people that Wilder knocked out early on. The sad thing is Tye knocked them out much easiter. Also you call Wilder a can crash but Fury isn't a can crusher? Tyson Fury best win is a against a 50 year old Wlad Klitschko in a fight that Fury ran. Wilder best wins are against a 71 year old Ortiz. both Fury and Wilder are can crushers.
