why did Wilder take on the Fury fight in the first place? The answer has nothing to do with Wilder daring to be great, and everything to do with the state Tyson Fury was in and his layoff. A 30 percent Fury beat Wilder, despite clowning around and getting dropped.

Exactly. Fury was fat, out of shape and in his worst condition ever.

Fury had a clean win by the rules.....he won 10 rounds ..TWO knock downs don't change the outcome or even if you gave Wilder 3.

We'll see ,Fury doenst have the most talent , hes just big and long with genetics...if not for 85 inches of arm length then what ?

AJ is the better fighter after he defeats Ruiz you'll see Wilder run...WATCH.

I don’t disagree, he and his team probably saw fury as a soft touch but it still doesn’t change anything. Fury won in my eyes to but I can see why others might agree with the draw, or even wilder winning. Also fury wasn’t in that bad a shape, he was motivated and had something to prove, so if anything he was more primed than he would be now possibly.

Fury now has shown no sign he wants this fight, the next spot he is trying out for is golf. Fury needs that underdog tag, I think he knows he won’t have the same motivation this time. Wilder proved he could hurt the best boxer out there, that’s the bottom line. Ok you can say fury was 30% and can do better, but until he does it’s all fluff.

What the hell are you talking about

Its Wilder that is waiting on Fury to make the fight.

He fought Ortiz because Fury didnt make the rematch happen sooner.

Disappointed with Wilder tonight. It takes more skill than people think to land these type of punches... but really, he's not progressing at all as a fighter, in fact hes possibly regressing overall, and losing so badly to an ancient plodding Ortiz... kinda puts the writing on the wall, imo.

I also think the low caliber opposition Wilder is knocking out is creating an illusion that he can bail himself out of any fight with his power, and that simply isnt the case.

The question is, who can actually either go the whole fight and not get caught, or who can stand up to the power once clipped.

Usyks fans seem to think he can.

Oh man. As an Ortiz fan I am really disappointed about the result.

I was wrong with Wilder's left hook though, I expected it to be effective, but he looked awful like an amateur using it. Wilder really looked bad at some point, his shots were missing and he was reluctant to throw some because Ortiz would counter everytime with better precision. He can take punches though, can't take that away from him.

Ortiz on the other side came in phenomenal shape, can't deny that, really didn't expect the way he fought. He was ready to go full distance for sure. He seemed so lightfooted and confident to me, I don't understand how people here say he was slow, he was damn fast with his legs, but also very focused when he didn't use them, staying in good range. I think he figured out Wilder and saw the path to victory. His team learned from the first fight and knew what to do. He controlled the center of the ring, fainted quite a bit with his double jab to close distance and landed good shots at Wilder. He landed on body and on head and won probably 5-6 rounds until the KO.

But then, Wilder saw his momentum and hit Ortiz in a similar way Klitscho hit Joshua, just harder. Ortiz (and probably nobody else) couldn't take that shot and get up on time, which was quite sad seeing that the round was coming to end in few seconds. Not really sure if I should praise Wilder for seeing the momentum or blame Ortiz for allowing himself to get in such position on the ropes and get hit. In some way I can understand people saying he got sloppy and too confident. But on the otherside, Ortiz was relaxed during all the 7 rounds as if he knew he figured out Wilder and was prepared for all he got. He enjoyed the fight if you ask me, but he knows he made a mixtake in that 7th round which he trained not to do and that upsets him the most.

Respect to both of them. I really wish to see Ortiz against other top contenders, but who would step up with him now that he is in top shape? Wilder vs Fury seems to be on, this time I'm favoring Wilder to win it. Even though im far way from being a Wilder fan, I can't see who can avoid getting hit by him.

    Post Shi*um:
Ortiz for me is the better boxer, but it doesn't matter in the end. All that matters is the W or L and he got the L. Sadly I am not fascinated by simple 1-2 KOs, I am more fascinated by outboxing opponents and gradually work your way to a KO, but the former seems to be the standard in the Heavyweight division today, one shot that ends it all (joshua-povetkin, whyte-chisora, wilder-anyone,...).

Ortiz may have shown the path how to beat Wilder, but who can go that path to end?

Thats my two cents from last night. Cheers.

Wilder's skill set is pretty limited. Ortiz was winning on the scorecards.

At the end of the day, though, Wilder's record isn't gonna say that he was getting outboxed by a 40 year old (at least) man. It'll simply say that he beat Ortiz by KO.

I don't care for Fury, he's a circus show but yes I'll give him props if he fights someone his age with a decent skill: Whyte, Ruiz, Hunter, Usyk, AJ etc.

Enough of fighting bums and old men.

Just reading some of the comments on YT by some of Bum Squad's fans after he threatened to do more damage to Fury than a concussion

''Please murder Fury for the community''

''Still wanna see Fury in a xxl bodybag period''
