I have no problems or allegiance with any promoter but have to call out garbage cards and pay per puddings which are thriving with Matchroom.

Read the thread FFS - my opinion was there during the fight

you had it level after 10. The last round was a Smith round. So how on earth can you cry out that it’s such a blatant robbery?

Spud O’Connor scorecard is a disgrace by the way. No arguments about that from me.

I agree but I don't think for a minute Matchroom done anything underhand on this matter. I thought scorecards were wrong but I think Smith edged it as build a built a big lead early imo. I am going to look forward to watching fight again at some point in coming days with sound off and scoring it.

lot of hyperbole being spewn out - Robbery this Robbery that.
Thought it was a close fight that Smith knicked due to his use of the jab across the first 3/4 rounds.
Robbery? I dont think so but the cards were poor and you can make an arugement for a couple of rounds going either way as u can in manuy fight but i think both lands needs applauding for the effort they put in.
Scoring is subjective and there are always going to be people well out or gutted their guy didn't win. I've only watched the fight today and was expecting Smith to take a hammering. What i saw was him being ground down after a good start but Ryder ran out of time to take him out.
Thought Smith started very well. Don't think Ryder did enough early to win rounds. Landed a lot on arms and wasn't active enough early.
The fight changed around the 4th when Ryder took the infinitive a bit more and got in first and then was able to press Smith into the ropes and hook away. Smith did well to react to the next round but after that Ryder had much more success the shots he landed were heavier and more frequent and by the end Smith was swinging for the fences trying to keep him off. What a tuff bugger Ryder is.

A good good fight, many people saying Smith disappointing etc etc.. I think he's come through something of an acid test. A shame for Ryder but in defeat his profile might raise an opportunities open for him. Wouldn't mind seeing it again

I've taken a look at the punch stats now.

Smith threw circa 700 punches in the fight and Ryder circa 400 punches.

Ryder landed about 30 more punches then Smith, his connect percentage was around 35% and Smiths was about 18%.

The most shocking one is that Smith threw nearly 4x as many jabs but his connection rate was only 8%!

ryders defence on the inside was beautiful to watch , the amount of times he has Smith missing with that left hook then coming back with a lovely counter body shot was great to watch . I had it 8-4 to Ryder.

Ryder was excellent negating Smith's normally very dangerous left hooks. Smith though landed much more of the cleaner hard shots, especially to the head

Great post I totally agree. I had a feeling Ryder was going to be a tougher fight than Groves as it's very hard to counter someone attached to your chest. When it was medium to long which it was for most of each round Smith came out on top.

Watched with the Russian commentary. No bias and no dog in the fight.

    Smith / Ryder
    10-9 (10-9)
    10-9 (20-18)
    10-9 (30-27)
    9-10 (39-37)
    9-10 (48-47)
    10-9 (58-56)
    9-10 (67-66)
9-10 (76-76) - nothing in it either way. Ryder on aggression.
    9-10 (85-86)
    10-9 (95-95) - just Smith
    9-10 (104-105)
    9-10 (113-115)

    Ryder (115-113)

An interesting fight and although Ryder just about nicked it, it's debatable where he can figure next. Smith stole rounds off the jab, but on the crucial last rounds he couldn't do it.

Really poor performance from smith last night. Its allright talking about getting up for the big fights....but when did that become a thing. Starting to sound like its a cover for i m not all that great i m just trying to get a cash out fight against someone thats a lot better than me. You never seen barrera or tyson or anyone like that saying cant get up for an opponent. They,d batter them senseless.

I cant get behind some of this current crop. All begging canelo for a fight...only to go and try to survive. Go out and earn it by beating guys.

Ryder won that fight for me. Smith missed all night. Kind of wish they,d have giving ryder the nod. Then smith would have to go out and prove himself.

I scored it close and just Ryder, but there wasn't any point where I thought Smith was in serious trouble. It was a strange fight and although perhaps Ryder should have pinched it, the right man went through. Smith is a little bit like the robot game rock 'em sock 'em where it's this arm punching and now this arm, but I suppose it's a thing.

Problem is how do you win these fights. Ryder outlanded him. Walked him down. Battered his face. Was the more effective aggresor. Smith was the only one hurt in the fight. He really didnt get much of note off on ryder....missed half the night. Was shattered by the end. But we give it to him cause he punched him in the arms.

Looks to me like its clutching at straws a bit. Smith needs to re-asses now. Forgot about canelo and have a proper career. Could start by giving ryder a rematch.

I see wiki have the result as "robbery". They'll change that. Smith is one dimensional, but so is Canelo. He is hands up, takes shots on gloves, arms and elbows, then counters - but he gets hit too. I would not count Smith out on this performance and if anything it shows he can take shots to the body.
