Current Deontay Wilder vs Prime Muhammad Ali. Who takes it and how?

Szpilka is a modern day Ali and Wilder handled him just fine.

 

Was American 'football' around even back when Ali was? Curious now if there are football hooligans out there at all. Polish sausage isn't the same as hot dogs!

Every great HW boxer hits like a truck in Wilder's case he can't do anything else.

 

I like prime Muhammad Ali, 1964-1967, there would be no Rope A Dope, but cat like reflexes, fast combinations, great footwork, stamina, perfect timing, and he would dance for 15 rounds non stop. Also he would be in shape, Angelo would see to that. Knowing that Deontay Wilder could hit very hard, he would not fight him like he fought George Chuvalo, on March 29 1966, in winning a decision. He would fight Wilder like when he defeated Ernie Terrell, on Feb 6 1967. He would move for 15 rounds, using his jab, and firing quick burst of combinations. Wilder would not be fighting Ortiz in this fight. Also he would get into Wilder's head as he did to Liston, in both fights. Ali would win a comfortable 15 round decision. Post prime Ali, Deontay would come away with a victory.

Wilder won't land on a glove on him and Ali absolutely wipes the floor with him.

 

Ali didn't hit like a truck but in his prime he'd still take Wilder apart.

The Ali who fought Foreman would still have far too much for Wilder in my opinion.

 

But I think that Ali and Foreman with Wilder’s opponents would have the same record for the percentage of knockouts, 43 wins (43-42 KOs). And in this case, it doesn't matter if you hit like a truck or like half a truck, if your resume consists mainly of worthless opponents, to put it mildly

 

Honestly I think a prime Ali boxed circles around him... Ali had taken shots from Liston, Foreman, Frazier, Shavers.... so I’m sure he could take Wilder.... plus his ability to roll with punches and slip and avoid would make Wilder look foolish.
Imo too much speed and mobility...

 

Wilder often throws punches like a windmill.

A prime Ali would have the reflexes and agility to avoid them and the chin to take them if they landed.

If a prime Ali was really focussed on getting in there and getting the job done quickly, I think it would be a carbon copy of the Cleveland Williams fight.

 

Yeah I don't even know why people are bringing up rope a dope, Wilder's not gonna pressure Ali. In fact I'd reckon it would go similarly to the Ortiz fight, except much worse for Wilder with him getting his face smashed all night and getting stopped mid rounds.

Wilder would have hard time hitting Cassius Clay, but Muhammad Ali would be KO'd. Even with his GOAT chin he had.

 

I brought it up because on one of the other posts, a poster said Wilder would destroy Ali, maybe the older version who used the famed Rope A Dope, but not the prime Ali. You cannot tag a fighter who is constantly moving for 15 rounds. But I respect everyone's opinions, especially the younger poster's. Everyone enjoys particular fighters from their respective era's. I happen to admire Ali's skills, my era. Deontay Wilder, in time will be an all time great, he is headed that way. All posts are really good.
