Unpopular opinion. Smith vs Ryder was not a clear Ryder win.

I had it 3-0 Smith. I think I gave him the 10th also.

 

If you are giving Smith that fight you must be scoring the punches blocked, ducked and falling short as scoring shots.

Ryder was extremely skilled in the fight at making Smith miss or blocking his shots. Smith barely landed anything on him all fight. Whilst he was able to step inside and rip into Smith downstairs and upstairs, landing a lot of clean flush shots.

I can’t really understand any other scorecard than a Ryder win in this fight. Simply because of how little Smith was able to land, and the fact Ryder landed more and landed the heavier shots. Look at Smiths and Ryder’s reactions at the final bell it’s telling.

 

The problem with this fight is that a lot of rounds were very close and very difficult to score so the result could be anything from a draw to 7-8 rounds to each of the boxers.
I personally scored 5 rounds to Smith, so he obviously got the every possible benefit of the doubt from the judges.

 

Only scorecards posted thus far have had it for Ryder.

Very different to you guys but I felt Smith controlled more of the later rounds than you thought by tying Ryder up when he got on the inside. He got battered in the last two rounds though.

 

I gave him the tenth, and the eighth and ninth. He tied Ryder up well those rounds and got his own work off at distance.

 

Smith landed plenty I don't think you were paying too much attention if that's the case.

I would ask you to watch it again pal. Yes Smith landed. But he didnt land as much as you gave him credit for. Many of the shots were blocked, fell short or ducked. Ryder's defensive skills were sensational. They needed to be in order to beat someone with such huge reach and size advantages over him.

 

He made Smith miss a lot yes but Smith landed a lot too, I'm not overestimating what he landed, I made a concerted effort not to the second time around and I thought he did better than previously estimated. I've already watched it twice now so I'm not looking at it for another while at least.
