Unpopular opinion. Smith vs Ryder was not a clear Ryder win.

Yeah I watched the fight as it finally got shown here in NZ and it was a clear as day Ryder win for me (I watched some rounds twice, and some rounds 3 times just to make sure haha). Surely a rematch has to be made so Ryder can school him again.

    Round 1. Ryder 10-9
    Round 2. Smith 10-9
    Round 3. Smith 10-9
    Round 4. Ryder 10-9
    Round 5. Ryder 10-9
    Round 6. Smith 10-9
    Round 7. Ryder 10-9
    Round 8. Ryder 10-9
    Round 9. Smith 10-9
    Round 10. Ryder 10-9
    Round 11. Ryder 10-9
    Round 12. Ryder 10-9

    Ryder 116-112.

You may very well be a boxing sage, but Carl Froch is a prime example that sometimes people who box haven't got a clue what they're talking about

I was on the same line of thinking of you, then thought Smith is a Matchroom darling and there's no way they'd risk his paydays and would rob Ryder so bottled it.

I scored it round by round, going back like you did over certain rounds. I guess it comes down to a preference of what work was done when. Could you at least argue that there was enough leeway to make it so it could've gone either way?

Oh it's not just that I box, I'm genuinely deeply interested in it and have an extensive knowledge of it. I'm not like Carl Froch who was never known for his boxing IQ as it is.

Round 1 and 4 were close for me but clear at the same time (if that makes sense haha). Round 2 was the closest for me as well as Round 9. Thought Smith JUST took both of them.

The fight was close. 100%. Personally, i had it 114-114. Everyone who is talking like "Ryder won clearly" has no idea about scoring or is biased as ****. Simple as that. Same for the judges who robbed Ryder IMO and gave him no respect for his great performance. Both sides imo not really on point here.

It was a very good fight with a great clash of styles: Ryder, comming forward, throwing less than Smith but punching much sharper and picking his shots better vs. Smith the basic guy who has higher output but missing tons of shots and looking a bit robotic from time to time. Ryder outlanded Smith in majority of the fight but he threw less, and he looked really inactive from time to time so i can understand why some of those close rounds went to Smith instead of Ryder.

Anyway, it's pretty bad to score a fight 117-111 or 116-112 for the guy who landed less punches, was outlanded in 8 of 12 rounds AND landed only 18% of his punches compared to nearly 35% of his opponents punches. It's unbelievable how bad judges can be - really.
I'm not saying Ryder won clearly tho. Majority of those rounds were close - really close. Punch stats confirming that.

    My scorecard was:
    R1: 10-9 Smith close
    R2: 10-9 Smith close
    R3: 10-9 Smith
    R4: 10-9 Ryder close
    R5: 10-9 Smith close
    R6: 10-9 Smith
    R7: 10-9 Ryder
    R8: 10-9 Ryder close
    R9: 10-9 Ryder
    R10: 10-9 Smith close
    R11: 10-9 Ryder close
    R12: 10-9 Ryder

    114-114

They should make a rematch. Now in London.

I agree that it wasn't clear. As in, its not to say he ran away with it and there's no way of seeing anything else.

However I did still have it 115-114 Ryder, personally

Good card. My card is identical to yours from round 5 to 12 in terms of who won each round. We also both have it 116-112.

Ryder's punches were almost totally blocked in round one.
