That’s nice cherry picking. How about the four HOFs and numerous ranked opponents?

    Nice try but no cigar!

Whatever you think of Marciano's era, he regularly fought and beat the best of the era.

Wilder has beaten three ranked contenders, all of who were ranked mid table!

    There is simply no comparison!

All those HOFs were past prime
1 was 38,1 was 37,1,was38/40,1 was 33 with around a 100 fights on his clock and 2 were better at 175lbs.

Two retired after fighting Marciano because they were done, one fought on, losing to journeymen ,the other was ko'd in5 rds a year later by Patterson.

    Numerous ranked opponents?

Louis was ranked,he was also37 and having his last fight because he was in debt to the IRS
    Layne was no6
    Lastarza was no7
    Cokkell ,laughably was number 2
    Name another?

    How's that?

Marciano had too much power and he was relentless. Wilder wouldn't be able to hold the pace.

He fought the best of his era [except for no1 ranked in 53&54 Valdes].
That doesn't mean the best of his era beat this era!

    Marciano had too much power?
Do you think he hit harder than Wilder?
How many rounds do you think a 38/40 years old Moore would go with Wilder?
How many rounds would fat Cokkell go with Wilder?
How many rounds would punchless Lastarza go with Wilder?

Let me tell you guys sometin about Rocky Marciano. He used to hide Bananas under his pillow in training camp. Bananas!!! That's what a great guy he was. I bet Wilder doesn't do that.

Layne and Lastarza were good fighters. Despite your claims. Layne has solid wins against Walcott, Satterfield, and Charles. That’s better wins then Cleveland Williams ever got and he seems to get your praise on other pages (despite losing to Satterfield whom Layne beat). Lastarza was a good fighter and I think unfairly beaten up on. He was a slick fighter who earned his status. Marciano ruined him in his prime as well as Layne. You can talk about Moore’s age all u want but he was an excellent fighter and one of the best contenders arguably the best contender who didn’t win in hw history. Far

Layne was a steaming pile. He refused to get in good shape. He wasn't strong, he wasn't big, he wasn't fast, he wasn't skilled. He was just there. And in the 1950's, just being there was good enough in the heavyweight division.

Dempsey's scoring for his homeboy in the Charles fight was beyond ludicrous. How can anyone take seriously a result that is 2-1-7 in rounds.

We disagree on Dempsey abilities as a fighter, but not as a referee!

Layne was an okay fighter nothing more, and the beneficiary of a couple of very dubious decisions.
Lastarza was the poster boy for the most protected heavyweight of the 50's. It would be harder to name the ranked fighters he beat than to produce the many he didn't!
He got his shot on the basis of a split decision over a washed up Layne ,whom you admit was already "ruined".Just as Cokkell got his underserved shot on the basis of beating the washed up Mathews and the ruined Lastarza ,who went into the Marciano fight with elbow problems.

Moore was an old man with 176 fights on his clock ,and over 20 years of ring warfare.A year after the Marciano fight Patterson demolished him in 5 rounds.
Williams was a 21years old late sub when he fought Satterfield.Got any more jokes?

Moore was fighting at his best and his record at that time proves it. He cleaned the division. Williams’s got owned by a 50s stepping stone period. Layne best thag stepping stone stop making excuses for him. Williams wasn’t very good yet he gets praise as well. Layne has more quality wins then any wilder opponent has ever had except Fury and Fury schooled him and got robbed
