Marciano wasn’t **** at long range. He wouldn’t need 15 rounds of stamina today just 12 and with modern work out methods let’s be real he would be more explosive then he already was. Point is he was the same size height wise as these men just worked out differently. Marciano’s legs were massive as well. This argument is so off base. Wilder weighed as little as 17 pound difference between the two. 17 pounds in a HW fight is nothing. Wilders height means nothing because he doesn’t use it effectively anyway (tyson Fury is a different story). You’re not giving any type of style breakdown as to why wilder would win. He literally has nothing on him but height and reach but that says NOTHING as everyone has height reach and weight on Rocky and they still went night night.
He was non-existent at the ranges which Wilder can operate. He was slow as dirt and routinely off balance. Guys like Tyson and Tua were well-schooled and blessed with handspeed and balance. Marciano thigh = 22" Tua thigh = 30" These two are not the same.
I believe Wilder weighed 208lbs for his fight against Fury - hes tall and talented but let see where the chips fall
He already There was a recent article that was debating his age saying that instead of 41, he was 50- but even 41 is old for boxing Ortiz is a good fighter and a good win for Wilder because he is still dangerous and even if Ortiz was 50 still a good fighter I did see Wilder back up when Fury was throwing leather & hurt and Fury not a banger but he can hurt you. After watching Joshua get stopped by the short armed Ruiz I am not so quick to bank on these goliaths just because they are large. I seen Wilder get stopped in the amateurs by (listed as 6 ft Romanov) but it was the pressure and the distance that the much shorter man was able to impose on Wilder that broke him. Similar to what happened to Joshua Imposing will and owning the distance and pressure. Right now I rate Wilder #1 - neck and neck with Fury but slightly ahead because he is champ but Ortiz and Fury were his best opponents - not bad but not ready to rate him as an ATG
Charles was a year older than Marciano and was fresh off KO's over 6'3 Coley Wallace and Bob Satterfield ( who destroyed) Nino Valdes chance to fight Marciano in 56 - Bob dropped Nino in the 10th for a 9 count and dominated the fight Bob was 5'10 Nino 6'3 - Layne was considered the Next Dempsey by Nat Flechier - Layne was 34-1-1 and KO'd the man that beat and drew with him. Walcott was a 2-fisted one punch KO guy but also slick movement- skilled -experienced fighters
Translation: Satterfield was 34-14-2 when Charles beat him and had been tko'd by Layne a few years prior and stopped by Harold Johnson and Clarence Henry following the Layne fight. Charles himself had lost two of his last four before fighting Marciano, once to Nino who was a crappy fighter.
