Now I would not be a fan of AJ but this is unbelievable

"Let's just say I did not invest in the Sparring I need, you earn £100 you pay £45 to the taxman, percent to your trainer percent to your manager and before you know it you are left with about 30%"

So he is worth god knows how many millions and he did not want to pay for proper sparring against Ruiz the first time round?

    Astonishing

I think Dave Allen mentioned before he never got paid to spar AJ. But Fury looked after him, which is why he's always liked him

One of the richest sports people on the planet and he didnt want to spend money on sparring partners.

If he is that focussed on the bottom line, no way the price increases etc arent being driven by him to an extent. Stay humble

A.J just isn't on it. He screams nervy to me in that vid.
The part about not paying for sparring partners cos you already give a lot out of your purse is b.s. sparring partners are tax deductable, it's coming out of your expenses. Where's his head at.

Who is he sparring for this fight? Ruiz isn’t exactly your typical current era heavyweight.

I just cannot get over being the unified heavyweight champion of the world and jeopardising that to save a few quid on sparring partners

If that is true it is unforgivable

Joshua's motivation and goal is to become boxing's first billionaire. How is he supposed to get there if he has to pay every one of these chumps?

    Jesus.

Just because somebody makes millions doesn't mean he has to share it ffs.

He’s been sparring Jennings and two other guys I didn’t recognise

ideally you want a short blob with fast hands, butterbean would’ve been good

Recent sparring has been with Bryant Jennings, Tom Little, Hussein Muhamed, Derek Chisora and Timothy Moten to name some of the better known partners.

I do think it’s been a very hard camp for Joshua, hence him looking so tired and drained in recent interviews. He’ll start to freshen up and gain a few ponds over the next two weeks but his gone to the well for sure in his preparations.

To me he looks like hes in recovery, like something mental happened and hes trying to keep it together, he doesn't look as confident to me at all ! A big athletic guy that imo doesn't want to compete at the top, the hungers not there, hes made good dough an hes going through the motions, maybe feels forced to fight even !

Right... Like maybe it's too soon. Also he's probably lost track of money. Too much to count. Some will tell you different but at the end of the day $$ can only motivate you so far. Maybe AJ already reached all his goals

So Joey Dawejko was a figment of AJ’s imagination? Or just didn’t get paid?

I see the rematch being more mental than physical, the mental pressure on Joshua is huge as there is so much riding on the result of this fight.

I hope I am wrong but I would not be surprised if he quits again, once the going gets tough. I have always felt that Joshua was a bully and have never been convinced by his media-friendly persona.

If Joshua is elite level he really should be blasting Ruiz out in a similar fashion to how Lewis knocked out Rahman in their rematch.

Personally, I do not think he has the mental make up to pull off that kind of result but that is exactly the result he needs especially with Wilder knocking opponents out cold.
