Hi Gazelle, that is what is known as a logical fallacy, mate.

You take one sentence from my two posts and use it to mock my posts while refusing to respond to any of my actual reasons for selecting Wilder.

Do you believe Rocky was some kind of super human once in 100 year fighter as nobody of his dimensions and weight have held the legit heavyweight title in the seventy years plus since?

Nowadays Marciano would be a light heavyweight , maybe the best one of all time.

    Cheers.

Actually he would easily be cruiser and would have to shed to much for LHW. Probably moves up to Hw for servers fights. I didn’t mean to pick on ur post as there were many stating similar statements. And yes Marciano was a rare fighter just as Ali and Frazier and Foreman and Louis and Lewis were rare fighters. These are once in a generation men and they are all obviously the cream of the crop. Marciano was special partially because of his Dimensions (developed his own unique fighting style which confused a lot of great fighters) because he had better stamina then anyone else. Special fighter indeed. Wilder is special in his power is rare but let’s face it that’s all he has.
Also no one has won the title with his dimensions because there is a cruiser weight division now lol why are people so stubborn to admit this or do they not realize it? Plenty of people have been sub 6 ft since Rocky or borderline 200. Hell Ali was almost knocked out by little 185 pound Cooper and he wasn’t as close a force as Marciano was

We've been over this many times: A heavyweight's ranking gives us very little idea about how he would fare against a top fighter from a very different era.

"Ranked in the top three" is a fairly meaningless metric here and gives us no indication of how the fight would likely go.

By the way, top-three ranked heavyweights include: Don Cockell, Ernie Schaaf, Tami Mauriello, Jimmy Bivens,Tommy Gibbons, Paulino Uzcudun, Steve Hamas, Lee Savold, Bob Baker, Lou Nova, and several other men who would have no business in the ring with Deontay Wilder.

I see a man who was ranked in the top three until losing to Wilder

Louis was kept away from punchers on his comeback,he scored 3 stoppages only one of which was a ko and that over Savold a guy as used up as himself.
Do you think a prime Louis would be waiting for Marciano to come to him?
If you seriously think any of Louis' comeback opponents beat Ortiz you need to follow another sport.
I've already told you I don't like or think much of Wilder, but picking him to beat a guy 9 inches shorter ,with 15inches less reach and 30lbs lighter, isn't putting him on a pedestal its just common sense ,which apparently ,"aint that common"!

Why do you think the Cruiserweight division was invented in the first place GENIUS?

I think because lazy Light Heavyweights needed a place to go before they retire.

If I were training wilder I would look him straight in the eyes and tell him to
(Use your height and reach. Don't let Marciano get inside where he can do damage. Rocky will come to you in a semi crouch snorting fire! Don't let that bother you. Shoot your right hand.)
Wilder might say I cant land my right, he's crouching and leaning away from it.
I would say ( I know, good luck) then climb out of the ring to safety.

I don't have a problem accepting this premise.

I have a big problem with you assuming to know, or be able to reasonably assume, that an A rater from one era would lose to a B rater from another.

It could just as easily be the case that the second raters from Marciano's era, would beat the top contenders today!
Based on his previous choices of opponents, anybody with a pulse has business in the ring with Deontay Wilder!

Do you have any evidence of this?

He clearly wasn't kept away from Marciano!
A used up guy who was still ranked in the top five, would be looking like a very good win on Deontay Wilder's resume right now!
Yes, that would undoubtedly be his preferred strategy!
I won't award Ortiz the win without him stepping into the ring!
Wilder is not a big heavyweight.

He is tall and rangy, and that is about it.

If that was all that it took to beat Marciano, somebody would have done it at the time!

Look at the records of the guys he was fighting. While you're at it ,check what Louis got to fight Marciano,a fight he didn't want but couldn't pass up. He was a used up guy in a poor division.Karel Sys was number 5!Cesar Brion no 7,Johnny Williams no 10. FFS!
Tall and Rangy and hits like a truck! Marciano NEVER met a TOP Drawer Puncher!
