I mean, who knows. If that knockdown had come a minute or two earlier in the round then...yeah, it would've been academic, because Valdez might well have had enough time to finish him off. On the other hand, had Mora backed off and let López reach the bell like six seconds later, then he would have had a full minute to sit on his stool, drink water, clear the cobwebs, and ...who knows how rounds 8-10 would have gone? :nusenuse:

The info she passed along to him from her producers was accurate: he was in fact up on the official cards entering the seventh, echoing his own sentiments that he felt he was ahead in the fight when Valdez hurt him.

Big shot and López reacted to it a little dramatically, but Mora jumped the gun. He should've given another second to see if López could pull his shit together (which he looked about to do)

In principle I do agree with SOG here - better stop it a punch too early than a punch too late.

Bradley, however, railing against him. "NO IT WAS EARLY, TERRIBLE!"

Well of course you'd say that, Bradley, you would let somebody hit you with a sledgehammer and beg for the ref to not DQ them and just let you keep fighting to please the fans. But you're not the benchmark for normalcy, you great big ****ing weirdo.

Yeah Lopez was hurt and in trouble but he didn't look as badly hurt as I first thought and Mora should've waited a little longer before diving in.

God I'd love to slap Berchelt right across his mush

It was an early stoppage. Momentum was obviously on Valdez's side, but an early stoppage is an early stoppage.

Watching Valdez over years, he has reached his ceiling. He's settle into his style and I don't think he can improve anymore. Moving up in weight, his power is going to be less of a factor.

I don't see him beating Berchelt at all. He's going to get overwhelmed and stopped in the later rounds.

Teixeira has had a nice career turn around. I wrote him off as another example of the Brazilian curse especially after correctly picking Stevens to upset him. But hes bounced back nicely with a few upsets of his own and an interim belt to boot. Now all of the top guys at 154 smoke him but there's some big fights for him still. So hats off to the guy for turning his career around. Nice to see a Brazilian boxer achieve a little bit of glory again.

Valdez doesn't use his skills enough. He's too set in the mold of being a crowd pleasing Mexican fighter and thats fine but it will very likely shorten his career and potentially prevent him from fully realizing his potential.
