Wlad keeps him on the end of the jab and smothers him up close. He wins a decision in a stinker. Edit: I didn't realise that we were talking about that version of Wlad. Wlad's style is all wrong for Ruiz, but Ruiz is likewise not good for Old Klitschko. Ruiz might have a decent chance at the win, although I still favour Wlad.
Wladdy is past , evidenced by his inability to grab the brass ring when he had Joshua down...then got finished off Ruiz stops WK as well.
Voted before reading thread. In this scenario Ruiz knocks out Wladimir after having to get off the floor himself in a similar fashion to Joshua.
Lol Joshua and Wlad are two different fighters. They don't fight anything a like. Wlad dropped a taller more athletic Joshua with one punch. He didn't jump in because he feared being hit. Despite Ruiz knocking down and stopping Joshua he isn't a big puncher. Joshua just has a bad chin and poor stamina. Wlad would just jab Ruiz face off and stop him probably mid rounds or just cruise to a easy decision win.
Be interested to come back to this thread after the AJ v Ruiz rematch. See how people feel then. If Josh batters him to a pulp it'll seem like maybe even old Wlad beats him up? At the moment, basing things on one fight so, idk may change feeling s after the rematch.?
I would favour Wlad to win a decision by around 4-5 points across all 3 cards. He would badly hurt Ruiz at some point and possibly nearly stop him. But that version of Wlad was suffering from Punchitus and wasnt as fast. Wlad used to absolutely love facing fighters like Ruiz with his stature. He was in fact more effective against that type than his brother Vitali. Who in all other H2H scenarios was superior. A Wlad from a 3-4 years earlier would knock Ruiz Jr out in my view.
Not true at all. The narrative going into the Fury fight was Wlad was easily going to win because he does better against taller guys. He much prefers facing guys his own height rather than smaller guys they said. I remember it well. We can look back at who Wlad fought that was similar to Ruiz and see he performed terribly against them. Peter was like a 60 year old version of Ruiz without the skill. WK should have got a draw in the first and won the second by humping Peters back into the canvas. Where was the boxing skill against a walking stump like Sam Peters?? I didn't see and and you didn't either because it wasn't there. Povetkin is the closest guy to Ruiz that WK fought. Look how that went. So WK could beat Ruiz like he beat Povetkin, but in the States a cheat performance like that would have seen him disqualified. So if WK opens up more he gets countered more by speed in combos he never faced in his career. In all likelihood , WK never even gets a chance to pump his jab against Ruiz He's likely to be locked into a constant state of clinching. This content is protected
How do you explain his wins against Byrd then sunshine. He beat the living daylights out of Byrd. I was actually surprised that Byrd was able to carry on with his career after the second fight. That is how hellacious that beating was. He found it very very easy too. The Pov fight came towards the end of his career, when he was on the slide signficantly. I dont think we can use that as an example of how performs against smaller fights in general. The Byrd wins were prime Wlad. The 2006 version of Wlad that beat Byrd in the second fight was absolute prime Wlad.
I don't see the relevance of Chris Byrd in this discussion. A flat footed , light hitter who in 2006 was washed up. Ruiz would have battered that version of Byrd as well. Peter , Brewster and Povetkin are all far more comparable to Ruiz than Chris Byrd. You could argue that WK could be 0-3 against those 3 guys. Had Peter been the HBO house fighter that night he could easily have gotten the win with the 3 knockowns and an extra point that should have been taken from WK for excessive illegal holding. Halold Ledderman said he should have been DQ'd outright. Povetkin straight up should have been ruled a NC. Anybody whose fair can agree on that. So i base my opinion off the reality thats in front of me and not on fantasy. Reality shows me that Wlad would have terrible time attempting to keep a lighting fast and skilled come forwarder like Ruiz off him. Vitali who could fight guys off while he moved on the backfoot would be better suited to Ruiz. The style of Ruiz , based on WKs former struggles against the same style , suggest that Ruiz is all wrong for him.
I'll say Wlad keeps it long, and the ref stops the contrst around round 9, with Ruiz a bit too battered up. Wlad may have got Ruiz out of there earlier in his prime. But even at that late stage in his career, Wlad was obviously just a more educated and experienced fighter than the Joshua who faced Ruiz. Wlad via referee stoppage, r 9.
What pressure fighter did he ever keep it long against???? I just showed how he was unable to keep it long against guys who had the same style of Ruiz..
