    They'd have malignant brain tumors by the 10th round. Not to mention various pieces of metal embedded in their skull.

    Honestly only two I see merit in are

    Better pre fight evaluations.

    Hydration tests.

    Other than that... the sport is what it is.

    Controversial food for thought...

    Smaller gloves (yes you read that right).

    Perhaps smaller gloves could mean less of the type of prolonged beatings that lead to brain injuries. Maybe due to more cuts and clean stoppages. Would be interesting to know. Maybe it would just cause more though :lol:

    Harsher punishment for failed drug tests. Currently they're a joke.

    This is one of good way to prevent fatal injuries, but I think this might be only applicable in the future when such technology exists.

    Just like VAR in football. I'm sure people already think about the application of this technology in the past.

    1. National commission. Boxing is the only major sport without a national commission. Baseball, football, basketball and hockey are all governed by national commissions. In fact, even individual sports such as tennis, golf and bowling have commissions.
    2. More thorough PED testing at random throughout the entire year. Minimum twenty four tests per year to prevent fast cycling of the drugs.
    3. Two year then Lifetime ban for testing positive.
    4. Better pre fight medical exams.
    Boxing is a multi billion dollar business. Each of these steps would take a little money out of promoters, managers, vendors, fans, and boxers wallets but would make the sport safer than it has ever been.

    People can always stop participating in a sport where they get punched in the head for a living.

    I hate it that this sport is so dangerous, but there's only so many things you can do. It's a high risk sport and tragedies will inevitably happen once in awhile, unfortunately.

    They could do some sort of grading system like in karate with all the belts, and that would help prevent mismatches from being sanctioned (I.e. a white belt boxer could fight and yellow belt and a yellow belt could fight a brown belt, but a white belt would not be sanctioned to fight a brown belt).
