What would Deontay Wilder have to achieve to be considered the greatest heavyweight boxer ever ?

beat joshua/ruiz 2 winner, fury in the rematch and then go on a tear. If he can get to 20 defenses of the wbc and unify the other belts and continue to knock guys out he will have a case especially if he remains undefeated

he has some guys moving up the ranks now that would make good scalps

I dont see him running the table but that would be my view on how he does it. louis, ali, forman, holmes, tyson all set a high bar

 

Beating:

1. Fury
2. Joshua/Ruiz
3. Building a time machine back to the 90s
4. … then the 70s

 

It ain’t happening

1. He is too protected to take the challenges required
2. Even if he changes promotional outfit now he does not have the time or skill to build up the required wins.

He is 34 now and his best wins are over a 50 year old Cuban and a Rastafarian from Haiti. Both of whom were never a legit champion prior to him beating and whose best wins weren’t even over top 10 opposition

He's a one trick pony and simply can't be considered the greatest ever.

I think he can possibly become an ATG but he would Need to beat at least a handfull of the best of this era. If he beats AJ, fury, Whyte, ruiz, Parker for example we can talk.

At this moment his resume is just paper thin, he's a knockout machine but all cans. The only top guy he has fought he failed to beat or knockout so jury is still open on him.

So yeh possible, but at 34 years old I can't see him securing a legacy.

 

It isn't in his power. The fighters around these days are simply not of the Foreman/Frazier/Norton variety.

Nor the Schmeling, Baer, Walcott variety.

Nor of the Murderer's Row/Jeffries variety

Nor of the Louis/Charles/Walcott/Moore variety.

All of that being said, he might want to start by beating the best of this day, which would be Fury/Joshua/Ruiz. Thus far he does not have a single king-making win, and no, a 40 (or older) steroids cheat with high blood pressure and an unimpressive record does not count.

 

Become undisputed.
Have a lengthy reign as undisputed. As in, the longest reign ever with the most defenses.

 

The GOAT discussion is an fans opinion only, no one will ever truly become the GOAT. The only thing he can be is the best of his era, and the only way to do that is beat the best in the division (fury, Joshua, Whyte, Usyk, Ruiz)

Once again when Wilder fought Stiverne, Stiverne WAS a champion and a top fighter at heavyweight, but you guys conveniently choose to forget that. That stiverne beats your beloved chisora and Whyte. The first Stiverne and Ortiz are indeed good scalps to have on his record.

 

I don't think there is enough great fighters now for him to accomplish that. He is about 10 years from doing that if he keeps winning and beats up everyone in a 10 year span by knockout and retires in about 2030.

First beat Tyson fury in a rematch by ko
And improve to 43-0-1 42ko
Then fight Joshua/ruiz winner but the winner has to fight the IBF mandotory and the WBA mandotory first or the titles Will be stripper so at first it is not possible
So fight 2 top contenders in that time need to be top quality if he wants to be the best So in wbc rankings at that moment that would be dillian whyte and Adam kownacki
Lets say he fights dillian first and wins by ko
And improves to 44-0-1 43 ko then kownacki and be 45-0-1 44 ko
After that by then the winner of joshua/ruiz would have Made their mando defence against pulev and usyk and i expect them to would have won those matches
Then he can unify against Joshua/ruiz
And then if he wins by ko he becomes undisputed and 46-0-1 45 ko’s
The face a rematch and win again

after that fight contenderr after contender after contender and keep winning on ko and fight the loser of Joshua/ruiz match also and a 3th fight with Tyson fury
