How has Manuel “Mahmoud” Charr not been stripped of his WBA title with no defenses in two years? Can someone explain that one? They need to strip him if he can’t fight and let two legit heavyweights battle it out. I would like to see Usyk and Chisora fight for it.

It's a complete joke..though all of the organisations are.

As per WBA's latest rankings published at the end of last week.

Ruiz Jr is the real champ

    Mahmoud is still regular champ.

Trevor Bryan is still interim champ and no1 ranked contender.

Something called the WBA gold title is vacant.

The WBA Regular title is for Regular fighters. Not an elite title by any means. Quiet simply, I don't think anyone cares enough unfortunately for WBA to act on quickly.

It's not a proper title. It's a pathetic attempt by WBA to make some extra money. Anyone holding a "regular title" and calling themselves a world champ is a bit desperate.

Has Charr fallen into the Oquendo black hole?

Unfortunately because the not particularly good “world title challengers” involved including himself keep failing drug tests, give up because they’re too old, or both.

He's doing everyone a favor by keeping one pointless belt out of sight.

For me the WBA "regular" is what used to be the WBA "intercontinental" and the WBA "interim" what used to be the WBA "international".
We thing Charr being a ped cheat who got away on a technicality isn't that relevant anymore either with Miller, Whyte, Fury, Povetkin, Ortiz and such still in the mix at HW too. As even the upcoming Whyte vs Wach fight is a classic 90's "Ped up or shut up!" kinda deal.
As long as people are not going to act like Oquendo being the oldest HW champion ever if he were to magically win when/if he finally gets his fight, I'm good with it.

It's a fantastic achievement for any fighter and opens up more money and more fights for professionals who make a living out of the sport. I don't know why @Aydamn is liking the post here the only thing your boy ever won was a WBC silver.

The intercontinental is a fight between two ranked contenders form different continents. The WBA 'interim' is a belt given to someone who is next in line to fight for the title but for political boxing reasons could not make the fight. The WBA international is minor ranking title contested between two fighters of different nationality. The WBA Continental is in other words the WBA 'European' or equivalent. The WBA 'regular' is the champion of the WBA rankings. The WBA super is awarded to a fighter who is a recognised champion with another major organisation. The whole point of these minor titles is to gain points and climb the WBA rankings to get yourself in contention for a title shot. More points the higher your rank.

And to cash in on those sanctioning fees. If you want to climb the rankings, you have to win belts and thus pay sanctioning fees.

WBA is making a lot of money with just those minor trinkets.

Err... the WBC Silver is way more respected than the WBA Regular

Get back on your hoverboard and fall off a cliff
