As I understood it, you have a pool of 15 top WBC contenders to fight an elimination bout for a shot at the champ Now i would assume it is based on availability but the number one guy gets first priority in the elimination bout Now who dictates the small details of the bout? Like purses and venues and what if they dont agree? Who gets final say?... or do another pair from the rankings get paired up ? Because I see guys like Ortiz never fought any elimination bout and got two shots at the champ! Insane bruv
I have a feeling they claim that elimination bouts matter so they can sanction them, but then put the rankings together at their conventions, no doubt under some external influences.
Great so I wonder why that rarely ever happens with Wilders mandatories I mean i think ive seen WBC implement that for other divisions...
i meant sometimes the wbc makes two contenders fight for the mandatory spot and sometimes the mandatories are automatically chosen
Kinda pathetic isnt? Why have rankings? All that hard work and grafting to climb the roster when the the guy 5 ranks below you gets selected likes its som raffle lottery
Ortiz wasn’t mandated. He was a sanctioned defense two times. Stiverne was mandated after Povetkin failed a drug test in a scheduled eliminator against him. Breazeale was a mandatory. I don’t remember the reasoning but Negron held a regional belt and Izu might have held a decent ranking. Whyte was offered two separate eliminators against Ortiz and declined. He then tested positive for steroids and will be made mandatory in 2021 if the steroid test vanishes.
Ortiz was sanctioned on what grounds? Why was Dillian or another WBC contender nit given a “sanctioning”? Why would Whyte work himself up the ranking for the sole purpose of fighting wilder but decline a mando eliminator with Ortiz? Maybe because Ortiz was holder of a second position mandatory behind breazeale and Whute saw it as a waste of time given how often Wilder makes people wait for title shots
Simple...if you are in the Top 10, you have a chance of getting an eliminator. If you are outside the Top 10, but have lots of money, you have a great chance of getting an eliminator.
