Yes it s seems the forum has decided quite emphatically that 37lb cannot bridge the gap in class between two men of the same kind of height and reach.

One guy has a big edge on speed and offensive and defensive skills. Both can hit and take a punch Easy call here. Tyson.

Yeah, good thing Wilder is not a giant... 6 foot 7 with 84" reach and all. Totally the same discussion.

Wilder isn't 209 pounds and hasn't been that light since the ams.

When will boxing get the justice it deserves and introduce height classes?

I can see it now. The antidote for all arguments. “They make height classes for a reason!”

In actuality I think Tua who was in the low 220s has a better shot here. The further Tua ventured north of 230, the more his game suffered in my eyes. But even Tua in prime form loses to Tyson as I see it.

The two guys meeting head on need to get their punches off and the extra weight will just reduce workrate. Tyson has the defence and perception to make a fighter like this more of an open target than he really was. Tua needs to land enough to win and he’s landing more the lighter he is in my eyes. But even then Tyson is still a level above. He’s too good.

Are you going to argue that Wilder's height and reach provide no advantage?

Are you going to argue that Marciano's lack of height and reach do provide an advantage?

Or is it just a wash based on styles?

For what it's worth, if Tyson was much slower and easier to hit, Tua would probably be the favorite.

We never really saw a peak Tyson face a strong come forward slugger with massive punching power, a great chin and endless stamina.

It's not about how Tyson starts the fight, it's about how he will finish it. What happens if he can't shift Tua with his best shots? Tua has the power to put Tyson on ***** street.
