How on earth could Ruiz stand Joshua's power shots and recover quickly after the knock down?

I really really don't get it. AJ destroyed Whyte, Klitschko, Povetkin and others by his power shots.

(He couldn't land them on Parker and Takam, so I'm ruling them out.)

AJ not only knocked down Ruiz with a monstrous punch, but also hit him again with another powerful right seconds after he stood up.

After the first knock down, Ruiz stood up like it was nothing. It didn't affect him at all in the rest of the fight, and he even ate another monstrous right seconds later. I have never seen anything like that before. Normally when a boxer get knocks down, he slows a bit and can't recover 100%, like it happened to AJ.

    Ruiz is a specimen.

    He never destroyed Wlad.

However Ruiz is calm under pressure, very relaxed in the ring and obviously has a good chin.

This forum complicates things too much. Ruiz has a very good chin and a style that bothers AJ. Simple.

Didn’t AJ catch Martin with the same shot? AJ then put him away. Ruiz on the other hand fired back and caught AJ recklessly coming in and the rest is history

Ruiz has a good chin, but it's also all about exactly where the punch lands. Whyte took a lot of AJ's bombs before finally succumbing. Joshua rarely knocks anyone out with a single punch, it's usually an accumulation of punches. If Joshua softens Ruiz up first and hits him with the combo that knocked Whyte down, I am pretty sure it would be the same result with Ruiz.

Because he's got a good chin and AJ isn't really a one punch KO artist. Don't get me wrong, he's a huge unit and hits very hard indeed. However, he's no Wlad or Bum Squad in that regard. AJ reckons he's hitting harder and faster now that he's lost some of the muscle mass so it will be interesting to see if that proves to be true or not.

Wlad was on shaky legs each time he was knocked down, Ruiz was completely stable and unfazed.

It's Ruiz's ability to take that big right hand after the knockdown which is amazing.

Ruiz's power of recovery is JMM-level, which is saying it's phenomenal. Some people are just born with it, I suppose. And like JMM, Ruiz becomes even more dangerous after being knocked down.

He stood right back up, only the uppercut truly hurt him.

Plus he was 41, coming off the longest layoff in his career.

It was a good fight and as I said before Wlad was not destroyed.

the ref stopped the destroy from happening thats all. He was being destroyed.

But he timed AJ well early on, noone can take that away from him. BLAM. Just couldnt count on AJ rolling over like one of his deadbeats.
