Tyson after his reign as well, during his reign he was moreso fanboyed as this unstoppable beast that got everyone excited and primal but their true deep hearted love were to the men who slayed this beast. Primarily the blue collar Holyfield
Louis Marciano Nelson Ali Armstrong Dempsey post retirement Tyson post retirement Sullivan Graziano Gatti Walcott This list has alot of Heavyweights because Heavyweights are historically the most popular, whether for good or bad. I tried to list ones who were pretty much unanimously loved, though maybe that'd exclude even post retirement Tyson. No doubt he's popular as hell though
Holyfield is probably more well loved by fans but I would say that Tyson has always been more popular and undoubtedly a far more recognised figure. In fact it’s quite surprising that if anything, Tyson has become even more popular since his retirement from the ring despite his many serious misdemeanours in and outside the ring during the time he was fighting. He seems to had adapted well to life after boxing, better than most people thought he would and you could even say that he’s probably more well loved now in retirement than he ever was.
Jersey Joe Walcott also starred in the 1956 movie with Humphrey Bogart titled, The Harder They Fall, indirectly depicting the career of Primo Carnera.
