I was in town for other reasons and quite excited when I learned I would be around for the fight. Then when I went to get tickets, I saw it cost $1200 for two tickets close enough to get a decent view. I should have figured when they were still on sale Saturday that I could have gotten the cheap ones and made my way down. Oh well, hindsight sucks almost as bad as ticket prices I guess.
For the love of god bring the fights back to Madison Square Garden. that aren't heavyweight fights. More Cotto action please! Then ****ing Cotto/Marguerito comes around and they go back to Las Vegas. What.the.****.
If youa re supposed to be one of the biggest stars in the sport anything other than a sell out several weeks before the fight is bad. These numbers may not be all tha tbad but they show that pac needs another really big name in order to sell. He is not on the level of DLH or Hatton who can sell out any arena for a sparring session
:rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl Manny cant sell worth a **** by himself, so why not, blame the economy!:rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl The reality is that it takes two great fighters to sell out whether it be arena's or PPV! JMM-Pac did over 500k buys, lets see what Pac-Diaz sells.....:hey :yep
"The reality is that it takes two great fighters to sell out whether it be arena's or PPV! JMM-Pac did over 500k buys, lets see what Pac-Diaz sells..... " This is right. Awesome display. But Manny is not an American, and he is also not a Mexican. Since his him turf for these sorts of events is the USA he has to fight another big draw. That is the reality. - Jason
the guy who compaired pac vs diaz to hatton vs mayweather needs to be pistol whiped and left for dead.... mayweather vs baldimer did about a half empty arena too dummy... and that was for the undisputed welterweight crown
wrong, only dela hoya can sell tickets for a sparring session in the US. hatton would never sell for a sparring session in the US, he could do that only in the UK. Put Pac in the Philippines and people would buy his fight even if his opponent is unknown
The bottom is dropping out of Vegas financially and thats a fact. This reflects this as well as his selection in opponent. If you guys refuse to acknowledge the economy as a part of this, your just hating on Pac. Casinos are in trouble right now, its common knowledge on the west coast.
the US economy is that bad huh? i didn't take it much of a factor because i really have no clue how things are going there. i thought diaz was the biggest factor why the fight did not sell. i guess the economy really was a factor
Well some sectors are hit harder than others, and the entertainment industry is one of them. I have heard that Vegas hasn't been hit this hard before... one investor was on the radio a few weeks back and said that Vegas has taken a hit twice what it did after Sep. 11th, which is amazing to think about. The economy is stagnating, and given the choice between Vegas, eating out, and other entertainment options and being able to fill the gas tank, its only natural.
Congrats on the wife and baby, and thanks for the input. This is why--getting back to the thread-- people should take it easy on Pac.
The economy is terrible. Your home is down in value, you don't feel as wealthy. More of your pay check is going to pay for gas, you need to cut back in other areas to compensate. You have to look at the situation when comparing things
Some of my friends are not going out as much and other have found second jobs. This one dude who usually gets smash was drinking(social drinker) a lot less cause he couldn't afford it.
