Ruiz must've had weights in his pockets surely

Wont this just blunt Ruiz' speed? Seems really bizzare

What do you see as the logic behind Ruiz, who stopped Joshua last time, adding fifteen pounds to his weight for this time round.

I totally agree with the Buster Douglas comparison. Ruiz hit the jackpot with the first win and this has all the echoes of a guy who’s been sticking a fair few quid behind the bar. And whilst Ruiz might ‘carry the weight well,’ there’s a reason why most athletes aren’t plain fat.

If that weight is real (poster above suggested weights in his pockets and I agree it's possible) then surely it's been done on purpose. It's not hard to lose weight. He must be comfortable and more importantly, he must be hitting like a truck.

I see Ruiz sitting down on every shot he throws. He's coming for AJ's head on a stick.

Spot on. As Froch said, it would’ve been nice to see him lose a bit of weight as, although he’s good, carrying that extra weight doesn’t help. Adding 15lbs more is crazy...

Can you imagine if he does it again

He looked great at the workout and a lot of pundits jumped on that but I’m sure David Haye did the same for the first Bellew fight, despite clearly carrying an injury...perhaps the workout was a cover for the fact he’s not had a great camp. They must’ve known his weight?!

An interesting question is just how much weight has Ruiz lost to get down to 20st? Beggars belief

Some guys punch harder with the extra weight. Look at Daniel Cormier in UFC recently. Chubby guy who was never known as a knockout artist. Puts on 20 pounds and knocks out the heavyweight champion.

He's done this purposely. He's going for the early knockout IMO.

So last time AJ boxed at this weight was his 9th fight in 2014 against Bakhtov

I can’t believe that Ruiz has put on so much weight when he is already grossly overweight.

I fear he is going to dial in a performance and be outmanoeuvred. Especially when you consider AJ has lost muscle and weight to be more mobile!

It may not be hard to lose the weight, but does he want to? You can’t pretend fighters sometimes don’t take the weight particularly seriously. In the last six months Ruiz has gone from a guy nobody knows to a multi millionaire multi belt world champion; a situation he truthfully probably never saw happening.

Buster Douglas trained like an animal for Tyson, and then hit McDonald’s. I cannot believe Ruiz getting his body weight up to a level it’s not been in ten years is intentional.

I don’t buy that he’s done it on purpose.

I think the extra weight on Ruiz is muscle, he looks the same if not better physically than last fight so don't think he's done anything different other than strength training which will put that sort of weight on, especially if he's lifted in the past and muscle was already there but shrunk due to stopping lifting. I can gain or drop a stone plus of lean mass in about three or four months by either training with heavier weights and bit more food or stopping weight training.

Your comparison is to pick a totally different sport?

And why does he need to put weight on to stop Joshua? He’s already stopped him!

Or his not putting the work in. Remember he didn't even start his camp on time.

Looks like we are going to view a repeat of Wladimir Kltschko v Samuel Peter tomorrow night in Saudi.

Tony Dosh PPV has a physique similar to Wlad now and Rice Pudding Ruiz looks like 2 Samuel Peters

I will literally **** myself tomorrow night on purpose should Fatty do the double on Tony Dosh PPV.

Then I toast Andy Ruiz in appropriate style with 2 Big Mac Meals, 6 bags of fries then maybe have a go on whatever puddings are sold in McDonalds these days.

Ruiz knows he will still have better handspeed and engine, even with the extra weight.

Ruiz to make the bodybuilder quit again within 6 rounds.
