I heard there was 11 people training in his gym. By the end of his camp there was only 4 left. The other 7 disappeared without a trace
Man I told my buddies Joshua was done after that 6th round when Ruiz attacked the body in the last minute! You could see aj almost quitting there.
Watching it in person, it was very apparent that Joshua was checking out after those body shots. It was harder to tell on TV.
I predict a ring around the rosie by AJ for 3 or maximum 5 rounds and then ...booooom! Devastating right hand without any possibility to get up for Ruiz.
Anyone who thinks this guy is actually in control of his weight is deluded. His weight goes up and down like the sun. Hes been waging a war with food his entire life and it's clearly gotten the better of him once again.
This is set to be a really interesting fight. AJ, when I have seen him, looks disoriented. Not his usual self. There seems to be real doubt that has crept in. Either way, if AJ is smart and jabs and keeps his distance he should be fine. It's AJs to win or lose.
Not sure how hard he's trying to really control his weight. I can picture him at the dinner table with his Abuelita as she says in Spanish "Come Mija! Come!" and lays another helping of pork fat infused beans, rice and tortillas on him. Carbo loading since birth. He obviously fights well with some excess flesh. You have to wonder what happens to the guy though as he ages and retires from boxing. He will have to change things up then or he will hit 300+ easily. I'm pulling for Ruiz to win. Seems like a good guy who just wants to box and take care of his family. A win for the common man. We will see soon enough.
I agree 100%, the body shots finished the fight, AJ wasn't hit that clean with the last two knockdowns.
