If you think about it, there are a lot of similarities. Both beat the champion in a huge upset, both lost in their first defense, and both came in fat for their defense.

I picked Andy to win the first. AJ to win the second ..

Ruiz is not a buster douglas of this generation.

Douglas was knocked out brutally in 2 rounds. And his only high profile good fight was against mike tyson .

Ruiz has a close fight with parker who is world level and beat Joshua the first fight. That was no fluke. Im not a ruiz fan but give the man his respect he is no buster douglas .

Ruiz is a very good fighter with zero discipline or professionalism. Stylistically he's like a cross between David Tua and Corrie Sanders, which is a freaking dangerous combination, but he just can't keep the weight off, and clearly let the fame get to his head.

He'll never be a champ again, and will lose the next time he steps up.

Your opinion fine . and maybe he can . in fact i don't think douglas is given the respect he deserves. Both him and andy deserve respect for what they have accomplished.

I still give Douglas some respect. Ruiz has lost all respect he had. Why should anyone respect a man who doesn't even respect himself?

Joshua respected that power of his. That's who respected andy he showed ruiz Caution and respect all night ..he did not engage the better inside fighter.

The way he gained weight for the rematch is very similar to Douglas' version when he fought Holyfield. It hurts to say this because I like Ruiz, but that's where he is heading.

Why wasn’t there a rematch clause in the Tyson Douglas contract?

The contrarians, as they do, backed him to the hilt; a win-win - he loses, no skin off their back, he wins, they look like geniuses. Ruiz fought a great fight in June, but he couldn't be arsed this time; took the big bucks, did enough training as to not embarrass himself and took a comfy decision loss. A nice 10 mill. Got a lot of time for Ruiz, but the hype on the forum was excessive to say the least - was as if Josh had never won a big fight!

Joshua had a game plan and he stuck to it. Ruiz was always going 12.

Thats why AJ needed that game plan because if he dosent stick to it he gets laid out cold . Ruiz was no fluke. Its called styles make fights

AJ fights ruiz toe to toe he loses. Again that isnt luck

AJ fights on the backfoot and he wins.

Styles make fights . AJ respected andys power .
