Ruiz never lost a fight that didn't go to the scorecards. Ruiz has been down once in his career and he beat the **** out his opponent for doing that to him, who happened to be better than anyone Tua beat and better than Tua himself.

 

Tua clammed up against Lewis. Otherwise, he surely would've been put on his ass.

The only way Ruiz could beat Tua would be by outboxing him and moving and thats not his style. With the exception of the animal Ike, it's proven nearly impossible to beat David Tua by standing in the pocket, no matter how defensively responsible the opponent. You can't hunt Tua down, you can't push him backwards, you can't trade with him. Ruiz's style is catch and counter, that would be foolish vs. Tua. Tua is a bad style matchup for him.

 

No, I'm picturing more of a a sloppy boxing match where Ruiz gets off first, they smother each other's power inside, the referee breaks and they repeat. There would also be some stretches with Ruiz jabbing and Tua doing nothing.

 

The Tua who fought Ibeabuchi beats Ruiz handily.

Ruiz is not going to outbox Tua. He is a short fighter that jab to get inside and trade. Which feeds right into what Tua wants.
