The ruiz of the 2nd joshua fight loses, although he has a punchers chance. Marciano's workrate and body attacks would have him gasping for air. Bad matchup.
Ruiz is better than Don, but I've seen better versions of Marciano too. Maybe I haven't watched enough of Andy to give him the credit he is due? The shape he came in at vs AJ was very sad, though.
I was rooting for him too and I was very let down to see how he looked. It's the same as when Sanders beat Wlad and he had Vitali lined up. I thought Sanders would train his ass off knowing that Vitali was the "big bad" brother with the chin ... but no ... he came in looking like a beached whale I guess some fighters suffer from the one shot wonder syndrome
Yeah he drew with Furguson, ik he fought Black Bill but dropped a points decision. Lemme go recheck is boxrec
If Ruiz was a fat, fast fighter who preferred to fight at distance, a la a Tony Tubbs, I would have more confidence in a Marciano victory. However, Ruiz really likes to whip around those combos in close, or while closing or breaking. It's when he's at his most dangerous and exactly where Marciano will need to be to mount an offense. The fact that Ruiz is magnitudes faster and throws in combos, as well as that he has a stout chin, has me leaning his way.
Big durable guys like Parker and Joshua had to go on the backfoot to beat Ruiz , but little Rocky is going to win by matching him fist for fist / chin for chin?? Oh but Rock will wear him down?? As if he himself is impervious to being worn down?? What would be left of him in the late round after taking all Ruiz has to offer. He ain't superman bruh. You put an 185 lb prop against a 250 lbs prop and he's going to get mushed into the pitch.... Boxing is no different
That's a fair post based on stylistic considerations but I wonder how good his gas tank and morale is when he's in a sustained firefight. I liked what Ruiz showed in the first AJ fight and it would be good if he got into proper shape and showed us some more.
Yes. And we may never see even that Ruiz again. He really is a talented fighter, one that I've followed for years. But that success may have been his undoing. We have seen this story before.
Ruiz will get somebody to exchange with at least...but it won’t do him any good because he’s not fighting a naive statuesque Adonis. Ruiz gets kudos for exploiting a flaw in an inexperienced opponent. But this is an extraordinary set of circumstances. In any other era Joshua would Not have not gotten so far without correcting it. We need to see Ruiz with another world level opponent to see if he has anything that would work on anybody else.
