Exactly. Ruiz stood to gain MUCH MORE by winning than taking a dive. I swear, the 'experts' on this board are mostly just a bunch of idiots who 'kinda like' boxing and have too much free time...
I'm still waiting for "that wasn't Ruiz, it was a body double". I haven't spoken to my Mother In Law since last week, so there is a possibility she was paid to do it.. although I think I would have spotted her because she has a much stronger beard than Ruiz Jr.
They didn’t need to pay him, he was losing one way or another. AJ is a better boxer and it was an easy win. Not exciting but easy money. AJ fought a bad fight the first time. I don’t know why but he did. His team corrected the problems and his new approach was solid. If you believe guys are taking bribes or laying bribes these days, you should just walk away from the sport. It’s still fishy but I don’t see people paying HW champs to take a dive. Maybe they sent over carry out food to Andy every day. That would be genius but not technically a bribe.
Hearn apparently made sure there was extra food at the buffet before the weigh in. I heard he got people to go inside Ruiz’s hotel rooms and leave burritos on his side-table, there was all sorts of dodgy tactics at hand - disgusting.
I’m not saying this fight was fixed, but pro boxing is one of the sports that has a known history of corruption. Even the amateurs have shady dealings occur. One of the reasons the sport is not as popular as it used to be in the U.S.
