Why are many Heavyweight boxers fat if you have to do a lot of cardio to be a good boxer ?

    I don't understand how so many of these Heavyweight boxers are so fat and out of shape ( Ruiz, Jarrel miller, Charles Martin, Brezale ) for example if boxers do a lot road work and being that fat is detrimental to there cardiovascular endurance.

    Same as offensive lineman in football. They need the weight to generate power.

    More weight more power and durable. It slows you down though.

    They eat a lot and don't train that hard.

    As we just seen with ruiz, that's not an isolated case, it's an hard old game to get up day in day out to keep in tip top condition, and it's no surprise loads don't.

    its insane, look at D Whyte... how man... how big would you be if you didnt train!

    Hell if i stop eating for one day, or do any type of cardio frequently ill become an ethiopian runner.

    Being higher % fat does not necessarily mean you aren't cardio fit - neither does being low %
    Obviously the fatter you are the harder it becomes to be cardio fit
    Its just that your heart has to work harder to shift around non useful tissue therefore doesn't work as hard if you carry less fat
    Larger muscles use more oxygen though so there is a balance to be struck; its hard to be cardio fit over a long period if you are massive in the muscle dept
    Hence
    Sprinters - massive explosive muscles
    Marathon - thin as a rake!
    Then there is the slow twitch/fast twitch debate!

    Ruiz is a bit of a freak anyway. Not many fat people of his size have hands that fast.

    Why did him and Roach part? It seems a good matchup to me...

    Football don't need no where the same amount of stamina as Boxing

    Bad eating habits, plus slow metabolism.

    Like some guys already mentioned that if they don’t eat they’ll lose weight, I’m the opposite, if I don’t diet and eat clean I would look like a Ruiz over a weekend, no matter the amount of cardio.

    Cardio isn't really fat burning, it's more explosive. Endurance exercise tends to be more fat burning
