Would Calzaghe have gone unbeaten if he faced Antonio Tarver and Glen Johnson?

Just imagine if Calzaghe did not fight Hopkins and RJJ but faced with Tarver and Johnson instead. Would he have won against both?

He was still better than both. Tarver would be tougher. Johnson? He would win a UD.

He wasn't too inclined on fighting either of those guys. Glencoff he probably would've beaten but the size , reach and left hand of Tarver would have given him problems.

Joe has too much volume for Johnson. In fact I think Johnson would be a bit of a sitting duck, his style is all wrong.

Tarver is a little bit of a trickier call, he might taste the canvas to win a competitive decision.

pprobably not. Once you start throwing more than one decent name into his resume, the losses will accumulate.

Even Joe knew it, implicit in him moving up to LHW to face fighters he thought were shot.

Rather, he is unbeaten BECAUSE he avoided such fights.

he'd not be Calzaghe then. Joes game was built around picking the easiest path even when people could see what he was doing.

Yes, of course. Far better than both and had the style to make both look average.

No. Tarver is a different beast then anything JC faced- taller, longer reach and could punch.

At LHW? Tarver beats him, including at least one knockdown. Joe slaps his way to a UD vs Johnson.

He's not beating Tarver but then again he wouldn't fight him in the first place. He had to be coerced to fight anyone with a pulse by his promoter. There's a reason he feasted on the Tocker Pudwills & shot to shyte Roy Jones.
