I mean the male welterweight boxer with the almost-perfect record of 18-0-1 (18), who is now 27 years old - not the female cute former child prodigy violinist who lives very close to me and is now 21 years old (whom I should maybe think about hitting up on Facebook..

His one "blemish" is a draw in an 8-rounder with Charlie Ota/Bellamy in January of last year. Now, some Western fans might remember 37 year old Bellamy solely from his 12 round thrashing by Jermall Charlo in 2014, but while that was a bridge too far he is a pretty good fighter that has flown under the radar, virtually unknown by his former countrymen (he's an expat residing in Japan and has mostly fought there in the pros) and heading into the Charlo slaughter had enjoyed a 4-year reign as Japanese national and/or Oriental & Pacific champ at 154lbs, with five concurrent defenses in the mix. He was hardly "ruined" by the experience, either - as even deep into his thirties he's still holding the likes of Yuki Nonaka to a SD in his lone defeat since then and just today he defeated 12-3-2 Yuto Shimizu.

The question then becomes, was that an opportunity that Beppu learned from on a continuously improving curve - or is his ceiling about on par with "slightly over the hill Ota" (in which case his prospects beyond maybe snagging a Japanese title are slim)?

He's decent, probably wouldn't beat the top domestic guys (think Yada, Arikawa) but solid Japanese domestic level, who's got a padded record. A fair bit of footage out there, including the Bellamy bout

Yeah the record aside from Bellamy is trash for having been a pro for six years and nearly twenty bouts deep, but I'd wondered if the power at least was real.

The win over Matsunaga is legit, albeit in the Rookie of the Year final and Matsunaga has certainly improved since then

Also my interest has waned in the other Beppu...some of the pics where she looked cute it turns out she was slightly underage, so I'm retracting those statements and now feel uncomfortable :dunno. She hasn't crossed the adulthood threshold with the lion's share of that cuteness intact - and besides, Michael Straharn has clearly already smashed:

He's okay, but nothing special, him vs Yada would be fun and explosive
