He has a knockout win over the consensus number 1 or 2 in the division, a KO that was in the prime of Anthony Joshua's career. That alone brings Ruiz Jr into the top 5. So far, Ruiz Jr's heavyweight career is better than Usyk's heavyweight career (only 1 fight so far) so that also puts Ruiz Jr. above Usyk for the time being. Although I am sure this will change in 2020 or 2021.
By weight certainly. By ability no. He can't get himself in shape and will get washed again if fights anyone any good.
The KO win over a prime AJ eclipses Bootleg Dorticos' entire career. Other than OAP Ortiz and Bermane ''B.Sick'' Stiverne Bootleg Dorticos hasn't beaten anyone. 1. The Gypsy King - I don't have a problem with AJ being ranked #1 either. 2. AJ 3. Fat Andy 4. Bootleg Dorticos
Nah I have him at 6, but that's H2H, assuming he shows up in form for the first Joshua fight. 1. Usyk 2. Fury 3. Wilder/Joshua 5. Whyte 6. Ruiz
A top 5 fighter should at least train hard and live like a top 5 fighter. If Superman did boxing and decided not to train hard, eat a lot, go to parties then I would be fine with that behaviour because he's Superman! I had respect for Ruiz before and you can read my earlier posts to see how highly I rated him. But after his last fight, I now rate him as average. You can't blame me.
Yep. And I may be wrong but I wouldn't be surprised if Ruiz took a 'long lay-off' now and doesn't fight (or train) for a long time.
Yes, below Wilder Fury and the bodybuilder. Some people thought he beat Parker a few years ago, or got a close draw.
He's #5 at boxrec which shows this scene is not all that great. Agree I'm not sure we'll see him again either, except in the line at McDonald's.
He isnt top 5. With the shape he turned up for the AJ and his level of motivation. I wouldnt back him to beat any of the elite HWs. The money has gone to his head and I fear his level of motivation will not be the same again. Until he comes back and proves he can be motivated and get in shape then you cant rank him top 5. The following all beat him on current conditioning and motivation AJ Wilder Whyte Tyson Fury Parker Usyk Hunter So he should be down in 8th, 9th or 10th.
He'd beat the crap out of Wilder so that puts him in the top five for me. Joshua, Fury, Ruiz, Wilder, Whyte. Povetkin and Ortiz have dropped out with recent showings, and Parker needs to earn his way back in.
