If a boxer completely dominates a round but suffers a KD, how should the round be scored?

  1. 10-8 for the party that dominated but scored the KD.

  2. 10-9 for the same, if you believe the adversary truly dominated, enough to completely offset the KD.

  3. 10-10 if you felt the dropped party was so dominant as to have otherwise deserved a 10-8.

there is a 10 point MUST system, meaning someone has to score a 10. beyond that it's purely subjective. no rules. Generally the fighter who finishes the round stronger, is the one who takes it... if the knockdown came at the beginning of the round, then came back and finished the round strong, I would score it only 10-9 for the fighter who scored the knockdown.

10 point must system means the winner always gets 10 (baring a point deduction by the ref)

When I am fan scoring a fight I'll score a knockdown as 10-8 because I know that's what the judges will do.
Theoretically allowing judges to play more with the loser of the rounds score seems like a good idea, but...
If you think there is corruption in decisions now, just imagine if judges had more leeway to give 10-8 rounds for "domination" . Or 10-7 rounds. 10-6 rounds....

10-9 to the winner with the auto-point deduction for a knock down is probably the best way to score. It means fighters have a better idea of how they are doing during the fight. Imagine being in the corner and asking, "How am I doing" and your corner has to say, well it's possible that last round was 10-7, but maybe it was 10-9 we don't know lol".

    I vote Derrick Chisora .
You may win rds but the battering you receive will make you feel otherwise...

It's 10-9 to the fighter who scored the knockdown.

Scoring is complicated enough so no need to make it more complicated so I agree. I dont care what someone does in a round if they get knocked down they lose the round.

Its a 10 point MUST system genius. Some of you guys think youre so clever and youre clueless. You go down you should lose the round 10-8. Thats the way it is and the way it should be. Thats like saying a guy gets dominated for 12 rounds but lands a lucky ko punch with 5 seconds left shouldn't get the win because he got destroyed the whole fight.

This thread is a great example of why I've been saying people around here don't really l know how to score fights.

Fury in no way dominated the rd lmao. Easy 10-8 round. The only way I would give a 10-9 RD with a KD is if you would've given that person a 10-8 round without a KD of his own.

I disagree completely. Just because you got knocked down by one shot doesn't mean another shot didn't do more damage.

10 point must system. The winner of the round must be awarded 10 points. The status quo has always scored it 10 - 8 but there has been a bit of dissent on this point recently, with some saying that in the example you provided they should be able to score it 10 - 9. I have no problem with that, but it would have to be a very dominant round by the fella that got knocked down. The nature of the knockdown could also be called into question. Was it a knockdown like Judah on Mayweather? How this is scored may change in the future, just depends on if it favors the "A" side or not.

    One guy lost the boxing

The other guy got knocked down

    Logically, 9-8

Unless there is a 10 point must system in which the knockdown trumps everything else and it would be 10-8

I'd score it 10-8. Historically, that's pretty consistent. Knock a guy down, win the round, that's how it went and that's how it goes. Seems reasonable to me too tbh.
