yeah this was one of those strange things that shouldn’t happen, Eubank was done, but its the kind of freak thing great fighters are capable of doing when they are on the brink. unfortunately in this case it ended in tragedy. I don’t know if I'd assign blame, but the medical attention afterwards had to play a part in how bad Watson's injuries were. Its incredible how over the years he has rehabilitated himself, the man is an inspiration.

The whiplash effect of hitting the ropes caused the injury. It is commonly known that it is this that can sever the blood vessels and cause a haemorrhage and subsequent blood clot on the brain.

When a fighter catches the back of his head or neck on the ropes or his head bounces off the canvas when going down then there is a risk of this happening. This is exactly what happened to Watson, I saw his head hit the ropes which was extremely worrying and his condition at the start of the 12th round confirmed my fears.

 

If it was the uppercut that caused the damage then why are you saying Bunce nailed it when he makes specific reference to Watson hitting the ropes when he went down?

 

Its 'commonly known' that ropes can cause brain injury, even though no fighters head ever hits the ropes. Okay.

 

Why wouldn't you when describing an incident in detail. It's, uhh, what happened.

A ring rope isn't causing severe damage. Huge shots to the head and chin are. Common sense suggests this.

That is the single most devastating punch I have ever seen, absolutely out of nowhere and absolutely bang on the chin.

That's not to deny the tragedy, but to claim its anything other than a freak injury caused by a freak punch is bizarre.

He also knocked Herol Graham out cold in the first MINUTE they sparred, this was before Graham's fight with McCallum and in Wincobank. Apparently Naz, Rhodes and Nelson were in total shock.
(Graham was on his bike for the rest of the week and made Eubank look bad - heck, he made MCCALLUM look bad for six rounds)

Yes. He's describing what happened to cause the injury. The punch that knocked Watson down and then catching his head on the rope that caused the whiplash.

And I'm sorry you are completely unaware of something as commonly known as the whiplash injuries that can be caused in boxing but there's not much I can do about that.

Not some fabricating fool playing word games. Physically, a ring rope can't do the damage that uppercut from a trained human body did.
