Are there any opponents that Canelo beats that will eventually get him to a higher ranking than Floyd?

Well he has a better resume butt the problem is no matter how his career turns out he lost to FlIVd head to head regardless of weight drain or being so green.

I think he is going to pass up Floyd. He fights guys when they are good better than Floyd did. I think the GGG fights show that is willing to fight the best when they are good.

If Canelo beats Beterbiev I will finally tip my hat and stop calling him Cownelo.

He may surpass Floyd but has very little chance of surpassing Pacquiao.

Floyd went 6-0 with USADA and ducked VADA altogether.

Well its an interesting question, he's not that far off I imagine in terms of champions or former champions faxed.
Both guys have a somewhat over exaggerated criticism of only fighting guys past their primes, but people seem to overlook the fact that the majority Floyd's last ten or so opponents WERE younger guys, often significintly younger, as well as bigger and stronger.

I would say if Canelo had stayed at light heavyweight and reeled off 2 or 3 defenses that included either Bivol or Butterbiev, that he might have a real legitimate claim.

But without having done that I would say he needs to pick a division, and stay there, and dominate it for 2-3 years to have a legit shot at surpassing Floyd

Beating Beterbiev or completely cleaning out the middleweight divison with likes of Bivol and Smith alongside the way
