Was definitely a hard one to score, Duran had a number of those. For me, I had it quite wide for Sims, with a number of close rounds, I've marked the close ones with an astrix.

    Roberto Duran vs Robbie Sims

    Rd. Duran : Sims (total)
    1. 10 : 9 (10-9)
    2. 9 : 10 (19-19)*
    3. 10 : 10 (29-29)
    4. 9 : 10 (38-39)
    5. 10 : 9 (48-48)
    6. 10 : 9 (58-57)*
    7. 9 : 10 (67-67)
    8. 8 : 10 (75-77)*
    9. 10 : 10 (85-87)
    10. 9 : 10 (

Very fun fight, one I'll rewatch again once I've done the FOTF. I agree with the point that Sims conditioning made the difference.

    Akira vs Pornsawan:

    Round 1: 10-9 Akira
    Round 2: 20-18 Akira
    Round 3: 30-27 Akira
    Round 4: 40-36 Akira
    Round 5: 50-45 Akira
    Round 6: 59-55 Pornsawan
Round 7: 69-65 Even (they beat the **** outta each other)
Round 8: 79-74 Akira (I GIVE THIS ROUND TO AKIRA WITH A TEAR, PORNSAWAN SHOWED IMPECCABLE FIGHTING SPIRIT)
Round 9: 89-83 Akira (the closing 20 seconds was intense)
    Round 10: TKO

Kind of an early stoppage, Pornsawan wasn't even on the ground. I had Pornsawan winning the round up til the stoppage. The ref was very bias, yelling at Pornsawan for every close call to a low blow or holding his head in a way that he MIGHT headbutt Akira yet when Akira VERY CLEARLY LOWBLOWED him in the final round the ref didn't do ****

Final thoughts: Pornsawan took an L today but it isn't as much of an L as having a nickname like "Pornsawan". Speed kills. Somporn Seeta has the potential to be one of my favorite fighters. Extremely limited especially in the fast twitch department but a dedicated warrior

Paul Williams vs. Sergio Martinez I

Wow, I had forgotten what a fun fight this was! Their styles mesh perfectly for a very active and engaging fight with multiple ebbs and flows and momentum shifts. Williams higher volume work rate Sergios countering and cleaner punching (IMO) and body work. I felt like each won 4 rounds semi clearly and 4 swing rounds (4-8-11-12) to determine the winner. I could see 115-113 for either guy...that 119-110 card seemed to shock both guys before the verdict was read.

    1 Martinez
    2 Martinez
    3 Martinez (Martinez 30-27)
    4 Williams
    5 Williams
    6 Williams
    7 Williams (Williams 67-66)
    8 Martinez
    9 Williams
    10 Martinez (95-95)
    11 Martinez
    12 Williams (114-114)
    This was fun.

I felt like Martinez won 1-2-3-10 clear
    Willams won 5-6-7-9 clear
And 4-8-11-12 are tough to score and is likely where the fight hangs in the balance.

    Carlos Adames vs Patrick Teixeira

    Round 1: 10-9 Teixeira
    Round 2: 10-9 Adames
    Round 3: 10-9 Adames
    Round 4: 10-9 Adames
    Round 5: 10-9 Teixeira
    Round 6: 10-9 Adames
    Round 7: 10-8 Teixeira :ibutt
    Round 8: 10-9 Teixeira
    Round 9: 10-9 Teixeira
    Round 10: 10-9 Adames
    Round 11: 10-9 Teixeira
    Round 12: 10-9 Teixeira

    My Score: (115-112 Teixeira)

Close in rounds, but still the clear winner in my view Patrick Teixeira, excellent fight!

    Frank Fletcher vs Clint Jackson
    FOTF

    Fletcher - Jackson
    R1: 10 - 9
Great action. Activity, brutal body shots by Animal.
    R2: 10 - 9
Bruising round. Jackson not active enough.
    R3: 9 - 10
Jackson hurting the animal with counters.
    R4: 9 - 10
    Animal seriously hurt here.
    R5: 10 - 9
Inside fighting! Fletcher pounding and getting hit less.
    R6: 10 - 9
    Fletcher working, working, working.
    R7: 10 - 9
    Clint labouring.
    R8: 10 - 9
    Animal extremely effective here.
    R9: 10 - 10
Slower round, good work from both.
    R10: 10 - 9
    R11: 9 - 10
Close. Jackson jab winning it here.
    R12: 10 - 9
    Great round.

    TOTAL: 117 - 112 FLETCHER

    Notes:
    • Great fight.
    • I can see why Fletcher is so popular!
    • Animal has a sneakily good defense, and tremendous pressure.
    • Jackson waiting way to long here. Missed chance for him.

Alexis Arguello vs Alfredo Escalera 1

Thanks to @PhillyPhan69 for mentioning it in the 4 part entertainment thread, I knew I had to watch it.

    Rd. Arguello : Escalera (Total)
    1. 10 : 9 (10-9)
    2. 10 : 8 (20-17)
    3. 9 : 10 (29-27)
    4. 9 : 10 (38-37)
    5. 10 : 9 (48-46)
    6. 10 : 9 (58-55)
    7. 10 : 9 (68-64)
    8. 9 : 10 (77-74)
    9. 10 : 9 (87-83)
    10. 9 : 10 (96-93)
    11. 10 : 9 (106-102)
    12. 10 : 9 (116-111)

Arguello wins by 13th round TKO.

Good fight, but I certainly would not have it top 3 ever, let alone one. Sorry Philly, we disagree big time here!

that’s cool mate, at least Arthur Mercante agrees with me. For me that’s where it will stay. Favorite is all about preference and nothing that can be proven or disproven. For me Foreman vs Lyle would not make my top 100 HW fights yet some choose it as their favorite...divergent opinions make the world fun!

The question I have is whether it is even the best of the two fights they had. For my money, the second fight is better.

I haven't seen the second one, so I can't comment. You have piqued my interest however!

once again they are all opinions, and we all like different flavors. Not that this is proof or even a conversation stopper but 1 was # 56 in boxing news 100 greatest fights, while 2 didn’t make the list...again that does not shut down conversation, and for my money while both great I would pick the first over the 2nd...but many people I respect, you included, see number 2 as better. In reality there are about 1000 fights that warrant consideration for a top 100 fights type of list and it’s all about what you/I prefer.

    Frank Fletcher vs Ernie Singletary

Recommended by the crazed one... (I'll let you decide who that is;))
I'm on a Fletcher high right now so let's go!

    Rd. Fletcher : Single (Total)
    1. 9 : 10 (9-10)
    2. 10 : 9 (19-19)
    3. 10 : 9 (29-28)
    4. 9 : 10 (38-38)
    5. 9 : 10 (47-48)
    6. 10 : 9 (57-57)
    7. 10 : 9 (67-66)

Fletcher wins by 7th round RTD.

Seriously Great fight! Quite possibly the best infight I've ever watched! The stoppage war fair, but I'd have loved to see more. Fletcher's definitely becoming a favourite of mine.

Very true - and that list gets longer each year while there remain only 100 places to fit them all into.
