Seriously did Tommy Fury really fight a guy with a 2-26 record ?

He was a professional boxer before a 'celebrity'. He saw an opportunity in love island and went for it. He now has a bigger profile than 99% of new professionals so fair play to him. It's a great platform.

I'll criticise him if his opponents don't improve and I'll criticise his boxing ability when I see fit but for now, I don't see the problem!

It's hardly Tommy Fury's fault he has a bit of a casual following and a promoter wants to use him high up the card. Criticise Warren. Tommy has done all that's been asked of him and a lot more than that thus far.

The good thing about Tommy Fury is that he will annoy the shyte out of Tony Hayers by simply breathing within a boxthing ring.

No one is arguing about the platform or value etc

But a 2-26 opponent is taking the ****. It's not even close to a competitive contest.

For a televised co main event, all fighters should be capable and be somewhat accomplished professionals

No one is asking for a killer, just a somewhat fair contest

There’s loads of journeyman with records like that & worse. If he wins he’ll lose work. I don’t believe he’ll amount to much but guaranteed Dubois got more eyes on him last night due to Fury’s popularity on Love Island.

This really should have been billed as a special attraction rather than the co main event.

Fury is still a novice but he needs to step up his opposition in his next fight- fight a domestic journeyman at worst or a guy with a winning record at best. So long as he keeps busy next year I don’t see too much of a problem.

    Worst commentator award :

Tony Bellew - Not because of his voice or demeanour but because every single piece of insight and prediction he makes during a fight is wrong. There's been plenty of bad commentators down the years but they all got it right at times, Bellew does not.

The jumping onto the corner posts and chest beating was quite embarrassing at the end of the fight.

I was unfortunate enough to have watched his first two 'fights' that gave him the title of 'boxer' before he went on the Love Island show.

The first fella Frank found for him had won 10 fights !!! ...... but lost over 100 and Fury beat him on points. Frank then managed to find an even worse opponent who had never won a fight but would happily take the fight and be KO for a few euros.

He has learnt absolutely nothing about himself as a fighter and I can't see other than a few quid in the pocket what he's hoping to gain with his boxing career.
He would be better off selling protein or whatever kids do these days via his Instagram.

He’s only young, no worse than Conor Benn when he started out and has a similarly high ratio of profile to ability.

Thought it was ridiculous that fight was so high up the card but don’t think every fighter who isn’t destined to be a world champion should hang them up.

I'm not the biggest fan of Conor but he has more about him than Tommy. That beating the chest thing was ridiculous and that pretty face is the scene out of Raging Bull waiting to happen.

Oh I so wish he would use the Benny Hill theme song — the saxophone one — as his entrance music.
