Looks like he's relaxing while he takes time to admire his handiwork.

    What makes you so certain?

This was characteristic of Johnson. Toying with opponents was his forte since his early career.

Every fight was different. But often he would be relaxed, playful, sometimes aloof. And would also turn into an offensive menace if he felt like it. What happens in the KO sequence seems to fall perfectly in line with numerous other performances.

Yes ,you can see he needs them to keep himself erect. Come to think of it he probably was "erect " at that moment.lol

He trips over the prostrate form of Ketchel who was out for 12 minutes.
The momentum from his attack carries him forwards over Ketchel's body. He was so dazed that immediately he got up he ko'd his opponent!
ps It doesn't appear you have any support for your opinion. We also know that the next day newspapers speculated that Johnson had not only carried Ketchel but faked the knockdown,[ we know this because I posted the next day reports,] something you stated only happened after Ketchel's death.
NB I'm not concurred, concussed, or concerned, you on the other hand appear to be a combination of all three!lol

He looks to be in the process of heroically holding down the ring, which looked like it was in danger of suddenly escaping from it's moorings and flying suddenly into the air...and endangering the lives of all the spectators present. Quite a heroic bit of multi tasking from Lil Artha.

I must say, in my opinion this is the most apt description!

A dead give away that he was dazed (and perhaps confused) is the way he gets up, gently dusts off his gloves and then casually leans against the ropes, as if he were at a cocktail bar, about to order a beverage.

Looking at that pose of his after getting up I’m puzzled why people would say he was dazed or buzzed.

Don't quote me on this but I'm pretty sure they stole this for Rocky 2. When Apollo and Rocky both use the ropes to try to make it up. That got from Johnson.

Any other sources? I ask because you've posted this one quite a few times now.

Also, how many sources have you seen that claim Johnson wasn't too troubled by the punch?

The SF Call, The Times-Dispatch, The Daily Gate and Salt Lake Tribune have him immediately recovered.

The Wire Report and NY Times have him dazed by the ropes.

Is this a typical spread, do you know?

Just read in a couple articles that Ketchel was crying before the fight. Is that common knowledge?

The one article suggested it was because he was overwhelmed by the love from his fans; the other suggested that he might have cried because he was scared.

We could always ask Don Turner. I'm sure he was there. He was probably around 40 by then
