How would a young Earnie Shavers or Larry Holmes do against the top heavyweight boxers in 2019?

    Holmes outmaneuvers everyone exept Fury.
Instead of Shavers, the better question would be how'd Gerry Cooney would do today.

Cooney was too basic to do very well today.

Shavers would likely lose to the Big three (Wilder, Fury, AJ). He might have a punchers chance against Wilder or Joshua, if they made the mistake of trading with him.

Holmes is in my top 5 ATG HW’s. I would pick him to clean out the entire top 10 of today, regardless of his disadvantage in size.

There was nothing basic about Gerry Cooney’s left hook to the chin and to the body.

Shavers would lose to most of them.

Holmes beats everybody.Shavers would be beaten by Fury, he has a puncher’s chance against anybody else.I will take Shavers over Whyte for sure.By the way Usyk has proven absolutely nothing at heavyweight.

Holmes does really well but Shavers disappoints many of the old timers on this forum.

Whyte would beat the crap out of Shavers. Most Shavers can expect is a knockdown en route to his stoppage loss.

Usyk would have beaten Shavers more convincingly than Holmes did, Shavers never fought a clever southpaw with an active high guard.

They both beat Wilder, but Fury beats them both, not sure about Joshua, I don't know if Holmes could actually outjab him, yes he had the better jab, but I don't think he could reach him, he could stop Joshua late

Fury calls them dossers & proceeds to outbox them

The thing that makes Fury near impossible to beat is he can hold pace with ANYONE for 12 rounds.

Holmes would look brilliant for 6 rounds...but then it would fall apart.

Shavers was slow and had a Glass Jaw. He would get slaughtered by the current top 3 or 4 Heavyweights.

Holmes would compete with Fury and Joshua for mastery of the division, losing only to Fury. Shavers would be on the low end of the top ten, winning some and losing some.
