Cleanest Fighters

    No, not hygiene; don't really care who showers and who doesn't ...

    Who had a career relatively unmarred by rough, illegal tactics - laces, thumbs, elbows, butting, low blows (did I just disqualify every legitimate contender in history?). I know it's almost impossible in a combat sport where emotions run high to keep everything on the up and up, but wonder if some were able to keep it relatively civilized.

    (For what it's worth, this was spurred from watching Patterson/Quarry II - several instances of good sportsmanship. After both fighters continued to throw punches after the bell and realized their mistake, they stopped and touched gloves before going back to their corners; and when Quarry slipped badly in his corner, Floyd didn't capitalize on it - rather he stepped back and let Jerry regain his footing. Gentlemen both -)

    I could be mistaken but Thomas Hearns, when he wasn’t spearing his opponent with his piston jab before sending them to sleep with his dynamite right hand, always seem to be very sportsmanlike and never resorting to illegal blows or tactics.
