Weight draining to make a particular weight...then rehydrating 15 or more pounds in 24 hours. Very unhealthy.

Promoters picking and choosing opponents based on who they can beat rather than facing someone who could challenge themselves. Can anyone imagine the NFC champ saying nah I don't want to face the AFC champ for the Super Bowl, get me someone else.

Who do you consider the best of the 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's?

Politically appointed boxing commissioners, inspectors etc. who know little to nothing about the fight game and put boxers at great risk i.e. not having adequate medical care post fight has probably cost some boxers their long term health and mobility (Magomed Abdusalamov). Also the feel good appointments of certain judges who really know nothing about judging a boxing match and constantly tarnish the sport with bad decisions. These things constantly frustrate true boxing fans. The UFC has it figured out and they've been around about 1/30th the time boxing has.

    60s - Griffith, Ali at #2
    70s - Duran, Monzon at #2
    80s - Leonard, Chavez at #2
    90s - Jones Jr, Whitaker at #2
    00s - Pacquiao, Mayweather at #2

Griffith had 10 losses in the 60s
Ali was undefeated in the 60s

Monzon was undefeated in the 70s
Duran was like 75-1 going into the Leonard fight.

Leonard lost once in the 80s. Chavez was obviously undefeated.

    Jones was undefeated pre-griffith,
    Whitaker lost twice.

    Pacquiao lost once.
    Mayweather was undefeated obviously.

    • The fact that judges and referees are literally paid by promoters with all the consequences.
    • The amount of champs per division and per alphabet is out of order. You can’t have Charr as a champion and still give that word any meaning.
    • A side / B side ****

I think it’s for the viewers.
Adds transparency to the scoring. How many times you’ve been confident fighter A won only to see ridiculous card for fighter B in the end? Not saying Smith vs Ryder, as a recent example, type of stuff wouldn’t happen anymore but added level of transparency would make it more difficult to pass on crappy scores.
There doesn’t seem to be much performance review/control going on for judges.

The fighters paychecks should be determined by whether they WIN or not. I think boxers would show more urgency and effort, if they knew their paycheck would be less if they lose.

How would open scoring change bad judging? People would just get up set in the middle of the fight. Like I said, judges getting it right is all that is needed. Post fight reviews, suspensions, fines and termination is a good start to keeping judges in check.
