There's a difference between doing boxing casually and working day and night like Mayweather Jr for example.

No most world champs are better than olympic gold medalists, figters lie Ali and Frazier improved vastly after winning gold at the olympics, it`s only three rounds, over 12 you have to adapt at some point in a fight, that seperates great fighters from very good amateurs.

I saw that bout and he was nowhere near Loma as an amateur at that point, he looked really green compared to the fighter he went on to become, Loma`s olympic career is hard to match.

As many or few as they like. Depends one their financial situation, long term goals, access to fights and decent promotion....etc.

At least 25, the first 10 can be a real mixed bag depending on your ability. Aba and box cup in the uk are good competitions to enter from 20 fights onwards and then depending on how well you do in those then it’s time to go for trials at team GB in Sheffield, go pro or stay amateur

I said “better as a pro”. Of course they would improve, they have many more years of training ahead of them.

I mean relative to their standing as a pro vs amateur. When you’re an Olympic gold medalist for example it’s pretty hard to top that as a pro, the equivalent would be win the super 6 and be a unified champ or something of that nature.

Look at the most decorated pros of recent times. Ward, floyd, Loma, ggg, Wlad, Lewis and even as far back as srl and Ali etc. These guys have extensive amateur exp. even Joshua is an Olympic gold medalist although his inexperience still shows.

You can also fight after only 2-3 months of training in amateurs, you’d be at disadvantage.
