Is fury ready for it? Reading his book atm...he reckons the four week postponment against klitchko won him the fight....cause he wasn,t in great shape at the point of the original date. Klitchko injured his ankle allowing fury four more weeks to get into shape for it. Kind of shows you how up in the air he can be.

Just started with a new trainer....recovering from the cut. Been away doing wwe. Seems a bit rushed. Same with wilder tbf...not long fought ortiz.

Needing to get hearn on the job tbh....looking like the only promoter that can really promote atm.

It’s odd in that you’d assume everyone involved would like more time.

More time to properly promote the fight.

More time for Fury to spend with his new trainer and recover from the cut.

More time for Wilder to recover given how recently he fought.

Although the announcement feels somewhat understated, this rematch has been heavily promoted for over 12 months in terms of always being in discussion. Wilder’s fights with Breazeale and Ortiz and Fury’s with Schwarz and Wallin have been a sort of appetiser for this rematch where the focus was always Wilder v Fury 2. There have been book releases, cameo appearances in the WWE, chat shows, podcast appearances etc etc to raise the awareness and inevitability of this rematch with the narrative of the first fight always playing in the background. The work is done, little more is required. It isn’t going to get any bigger than it is now.

Let’s face it, hardcore boxing fans will stay up for this fight. Had it been in New York it would have done better numbers from a casual perspective, so the target audience is American, they know that with it being in Vegas. The U.K. numbers are pretty much just bonus figures for them.

Problem is they don't have time. March is NCAA basketball season.

April has UFC PPV Khabib v Ferguson.

May will likely be Canelo fighting for Cinco De Mayo.

Feb is probably the only time they can get this fight done without having competition.

As Gino the chef said if my gran had wheels she would of been a bicycle ! Wilder was blowing out of his arse after the knockdown in the 12! It was a 12 round fight not 15 so It doesn’t matter what would of happened if it went 15. I disagree with totally If anything it’s Fury who will benefit from the first fight , wilder gets totally outclassed this time.

Feb is the BEST time for big fights in the US.
I'm not sure why it's not done more often: it's right after the Superbowl and before NBA playoffs.

    Perfect month really for boxing.

Fury is going to start rocketing real soon, this will be his third super fight. I wonder when Joshua is going to have his second, 2020 doesn't seem likely.

But you need to promote prior to February. December is holiday season so not really
His last fight was the highest selling PPV ever in the UK. Superfight or not his hitting ridiculous numbers no matter who he fights.

All involved in both parties have known the fight is February 22nd a long time now. Wilder came through a fight unscathed recently so he's fit. Fury's weight is down so he's solely focusing on boxing in camp. The cut is obviously a concern but it's not a Tyson Fury big fight build up without his back against the wall. The man thrives on adversity.

As for the networks etc. I think the logistics are genuinely complicated as it's a joint PPV and they've simply got delayed. They must believe February 22nd is the best available date to sell PPV's so they're cramming it it in.

I'd imagine over the coming weeks we'll see good promos and a 24/7 show perhaps. The superbowl is their big opportunity to promote and I expect something big during that.

Tickets sold out already according to axs website? Queued since before 6 and nothing available...must be an error?

I’ve got in quite a few times. Definitely not sold out yet but nearly. Ticket prices are shocking! $1,000 for a corner seat high up! They’re about £150 at the o2! I’m going so I’m still trying to get in and get something better. Will keep you posted.

Website isn’t working properly for me, keeps jumping between error messages and showing different categories as available. But yeah. The prices are a joke! I’m looking at £200 tickets. No idea where they are.

ironically stub hub has loads. More availability than axs when I got in at 6 on the dot. Putting tickets straight on the resale? Heard this one before.

Ridiculous. Loads on stubhub. Clearly been routed by touts. May not be going after all.
