Unquestionably one of the brightest young prospects in boxing, how does everyone see 2020 turning out for Ortiz? He and Jarron Ennis stand out to me as the 2 prospects that are clearly blue chip talents at WW. Stand out amateur with a win over Richardson Hitchens -- himself a highly regarded prospect -- and 15-0-0 with 15 KO's as a pro. Will Ortiz burst onto the scene this year? @bandeedo -- any thoughts on Vergil? I know he's from you're area, got any inside info? I really like this kid as a fighter, I'm sold on him developing into an elite fighter.
I think he pretty ****ing awesome. Probably one of my current favorites, and someone I thought was destined for greatness. Vergil Ortiz Jr.: The Grand Prairie War Dog Of Dallas County-The Light Welterweight Tejas Tornado.
Best prospect in boxing for me.bit of spite about him and seems to have a good attitude to go with it.
hes like a mexican terence crawford, he can box going forward and backward , brawl, and counter. hes also got that killer intinct and explosivness to got along with it.
Very dynamic puncher with great technique, leverage, and deadly accurate. The rarest of breeds in terms of power -- both heavy handed and explosive. He's EXTREMELY well schooled/trained. Has very good head and upperbody movement, but expertly places his off hand EXACTLY where he is most vulnerable when his head stays on centerline after throwing a punch and parries the return fire deftly away. Beautiful feet, light on his feet with excellwnt body control and ability to seamlessly shift his weight around, great footwork. A total blue chipper in terms of natural talent and ability, but expertly trained/schooled, and highly experienced. Very smart fighter who is very calm and relaxed and doesnt get bent out of shape when he's hit, very confident fighter and executes his gameplan to perfection and has thus far shown the ability to adapt in the rare instance his opponent stays upright long enough to force him to. This kid will be a superstar. He and Ennis are going to have an epic showdown/s some day.
Started watching him earlier this year. Kid looks like he has all the goods. Its a little scary sometimes. What did against Herrera is super impressive. They are some real beast at welterweight so he'll def be tested. It'll be fun to watch him climb the ranks.
Vergil looks like a monster in the making. The way he took out Mauricio Herrera was stunning and violent. Herrera was almost shot, but still.
i said in 5 years he would be unified welterweight champ, so by 2024 i expect him to be the man at 147. he looks too good for the limited experience hes got, hes a natural. the only thing ive been able to nitpick is that i felt he rushes things a bit. revs a little high for a guy who commits so much to his punches, he may have trouble going 12... if anyone can get him there. he seems to be the favorite among the talking heads too. Totally agree bro. This kid's a 100% guaranteed STUD. So much fun to watch too. You're right man, definitely a natural.
